UART Premium Sanded Pastel Paper is pH neutral and acid free. UART Pastel Paper accepts underpainting using a wide variety of media such as water, oil, mineral spirits, turpenoid and alcohol. After the underpainting process, the tooth still holds many layers of pastel and the grain will remain affixed to the paper.

Did not care for this product. It did not work well for the pastel pencils I bought it for. It was very gritty and was wearing down my pastel pencils. I attempted to apply pan pastels as an undercoating to then use pencils over but kept getting a lot of dust. Another artist said this board was better suited for chaulk pastels and landscape work and not for the detailed work like I do. Also suggested the 800 grit but not sure if I really want to try that. I also attempted to go over it with Pastel Sticks but that isn't working out so well either. Chaulking this up to an experiment and tossing it.

I use Uart 400 paper and mount it myself usually on Gaterboard for pastel work but I wanted to try the commercial version of this to see the quality. The board is not as thick as gaterboard and does warp slightly but framing afterwards counterbalances that just fine. These boards came in the natural unbleached white tone and is great UART 400 quality
