My Heatilator brand gas fireplace would light fine, but not stay lit.After a little searching, the interwebs said it must be the "thermopile". I tried cleaning the old one with some sand paper and it worked a little better, but still not great so I ordered this.It was a little bit of a pain to replace since you have to dismantle all the way to the back of the fire-box and then poke it out through a heat-resistant silicone plug. Annoying, but doable. (And I can't fault this product for my fireplace manufacturer's design.)There was plenty of wire to attach the new thermopile, and once I got everything back together it worked like a charm.My toes are toasty once more.

This worked perfectly to replace the thermopile in my gas fireplace. I knocked it down from 5 stars because I received an 18" lead instead of a 24" lead but it reached the valve and the resistance was acceptable.I just wish I had replaced it sooner since the valves kept shutting off on some cold nights!

Ordered this two lead thermopile in attempt to fix my gas fireplace what would not always light when the switch was turned on. I also had a few times that the fire went out after it was already running. After having a friend come over and look at my fireplace he suggested getting a new thermopile, guessing that the original one was not putting out enough voltage to properly or completely open the valve. I did not need the included adapter. This thermopile threaded directly into the fitting near the pilot light in my fireplace. I did end up cutting off one terminal end and replaced that with a spade connector to connect to a switch. The leads were plenty long for my application. Everything fit as expected and my fireplace now works just as it did before the old thermopile quit working. This also gave me the opportunity to clean the inside glass of my fireplace. I am happy this fixed my fireplace and that I didn't need to pay a repairman or end up having to replace my fireplace.

Works great. Good delivery time. Higher MA (milliamp) rating with a VOM than the H brand at higher cost. Been working fine with very positive gas open/close for 3 months. Wonder how LONG this will work well is all, but so far, this is the BEST value there is for a millivolt generator. Mine is used on a ventless natural gas fireplace. Set the placement for the pilot light at just ABOVE half way down for highest voltage, which is what you WANT. If you have a VOM, (volt ohm meter), set it to milliamps and fire it up across the ATTACHED leads. Move your generator up or down till you get the highest MA voltage specific to your unit and pilot. Make SURE your generator has had 10 minutes under the pilot and hot as it will get at that position before moving it up or down -- Then snug it down when you find where the highest voltage is available at a given pilot flame position. If you JUST heat the TIP of a generator, you are NOT going to get much voltage. Move it down. Measure, then reset. Get it right. Turn OFF during off seasons when not in use or you shorten the lifespan.

I wish I could say that this fixed my furnace problem, but the issue is with the valve. This thermopile seems to work (generates voltage) the shipping was very speedy, and the price was definitely very good. I can't review the device's performance though. I am giving it 5 stars because I'm pretty sure it would have been perfect if our valve hadn't died.

I could not find out what the difference was between the other listed thermopiles and this one. The thermopile has to create a 750 mv current from the pilot light flame to provide enough voltage for the gas valve switch to stay open. If there is not enough voltage, the unit will not turn on, or will turn of after some period of time. This stuff in not rocket science.So i just picked the cheapest one and tried it. I could always go with a more expensive model if this one didn't work. Worked just fine. Note that there is a sliding threaded ferrule that holds the thermopile to the mounting bracket. The image doesn't show this.
