I recently needed to get some M8 bolts for mounting a TV and stumbled upon this set while researching some options; figured why not go for a larger, assorted set so I can have them handy in my garage for miscellaneous uses in the future. The M8s worked perfectly for mounting my TV. The high-quality alloy steel with zinc plating provides excellent durability. The set includes a wide variety of sizes, making it versatile for various projects. I agree with some other reviewers that the storage case isn't anything special, but not entirely sure what people expect there. It does the job, keeping everything neatly arranged (for the most part) and easy to access. Yes, some of the nuts are where bots are, etc. as things likely got shifted around in shipping and transit, but again, easy to rearrange. I appreciate that they at least include a case as opposed to just packaging everything in individual baggies. I can already see this kit saving me countless trips to the hardware store in the future.

This is a really good assortment of the right sizes. All the bolts are head stamped as 8.8 which is a metric grading roughly equal to SAE grade 5, or medium strength. I thought about knocking off a star for two reasons. First, the lock washers are the thin, narrow type. I think the ones with the larger coils are better. Second, the case is just too crammed full. Nuts and lock washers are mixed in with the bolts. But after thinking about it, neither is a deal breaker and if you want a good assortment then this definitely a good buy if you can deal with the case and have some regular lock washers if those are what you prefer.

Purpose for Product: I use a lot of bolts and am constantly making that hardware store run. This selection will slow down the trips at an economical solution.Product Inspection: Plastic storage box with all the pieces somewhat organized but many were jumbled around in the wrong divider. The bolts are stamped 8.8 indicating they are heat hardened carbon steel meant for general use with moderate strength. The zinc coating is an economical rust and corrosion preventive. The zinc is a sacrificial coating that will rust or corrode before the steel will. The coating's ability to provide the protection is apparently proportional to the coatings thickness and I have no idea how thick it is. The pieces all appear well manufactured with no burrs found.Product Performance: I did not like the jumbled parts so I assembled each bolt set, one bolt-one flat washer-one split washer and the nut. The final count was 187 complete sets then multiplied by 4 = 748 pieces + 22 assorted washers and nuts =770 pieces. During this assembly process I found trouble with about 5% of the nuts binding on the threads but not enough to stop the threading. The sizing of the nuts and bolts checked accurate by using a sizing device. After the assembly I replaced them in the storage tray still assembled so I don't have to chase the parts again.Summary: This assortment of bolts will provide a valuable sourcing for all the projects on the chalkboard. Bolts appeared adequately manufactured and have no reason to believe they will not perform as designed. Found no defects.

There are few things I don't like more than having to stop in the middle of a project to drive and buy more hardware. To that end, I prefer to keep a ready supply of things that I may need. The case for this assortment is as heavy duty as the bolts, nuts, and washers themselves. The entire kit weighs 7.8 pounds. Only some of the smaller items are in those annoying plastic bags and the lid of the case has ridges that match the compartments. Like many kits, the plan is for a one flat washer, split washer, and nut per bolt, although this assortment does give one or two extras. Whether you're assembling a project you designed yourself or need to replace a bolt, washer, or nut, this kit is highly recommended.

Trying to focus on the hardware here. Even tho the plastic case was double or triple wrapped in bubble tape inside a cardboard box the plastic storage case came out of the box smashed. I assume from the bubble wrap that they know they have a problem. The thin plastic case is simply inadequate to be shipping 4 pounds of hardware around.Having said that this is beautiful hardware and is an amazing value. The hardware is very well made and the finish is beautiful. The pieces fit each other well as well as the test standard. I didn't see any burrs or sharp edges anywhere.The hardware has a yellow finish (zinc chromate?) and is marked 8.8 which is equivalent to American grade 5. I have no way of verifying these things.This is a great assortment of metric hardware they just need to upgrade the case.
