This was compatible and worked perfectly to resolve my non-working fuel gauge issue in my 1980 Corvette. Price was decent compared to the premium "OEM" style from main sites and I didn't have to order an "eBay special".

This TRQ FGA17216 is a perfect replacement for the factory fuel sending unit/pickup in a ‘81 Corvette.I tested the sending unit before installing- the float hard stops match the E and F on my gauge. Some have said the gasket hole pattern doesn’t match the flange on the unit—not the case for me. Line-up the “0” stamped on the rubber gasket with the ground wire connector and then the holes line-up perfectly.A magnet won’t stick to this sending unit so this unit is made from some grade of stainless steel. The hardware is zinc plated steel. A 7/16” wobble socket, long straight needle-nose and long 90 degree needle-nose pliers were the primary tools I used. After removing the filler door, rubber boot, hoses and bolts. I was able to rotate the unit appropriately 90 degrees counter clockwise and pull the unit out through the filler opening on the body- no need to remove the tank. Tip: fumes will be strong. Use a fan and open the doors.

Check the gasket against the bolt holes in the tank before inserting the new sender!!!!!! This particular gasket had 1 hole about half way covering a bolt hole and another bolt hole was completely covered by the gasket. Took 30 minutes cutting, drilling, sizing and comparing to create the one hole and elongate the other one without ripping the gasket. Sender seems to work OK but I am wondering about how long it will last if they can't even make the gasket correctly.
