Installed today in my 09 Tacoma when I swapped out the needle bearing. CV axle was packaged well and perfect fit. Original axle came out in pieces - so it was at end of life - vibrations thru the floorboard/pedals. Install was about 4.5hrs along with bearing swap. I have a second TRQ acle for the passenger side as well.

TRQ is known for quality parts, and I've used their parts many times before. However, I was in need of a replacement CV axle for a 2009 VW GLI.I received the parts rather quickly. The next day, I unboxed it, and installed it. Bolted the inner joint in first, then the hub. Torqued all bolts and reassembled the car then sat it on the ground.Started the car, released the park brake, and noticed the car started to roll down the driveway.. Weird...Put it in reverse, nothing..weird noises..Put it in drive, same thing. Put it in park, and still no park; had to set the brake.Lifted the car back up and found that the inner boot was now twisted up. Grabbed the axle and it was definitely disconnected inside the inner cv joint..Now instead of having a functional car, I now have 2 days additional downtime and had to order another axle.I did NOT order the same one, but I will return it today.

This was a great fit. And it is a nice quality part that was well packaged. I have a word of advice though. If you are repairing a Dodge Journey on the front passenger side, you are very likely to also need a new intermediate shaft and bearing. Order it before you start the job, because the online price for such a thing is like a hundred bucks and the "you need it right now and have to get it at the dealer" price was over four hundred dollars. Not to mention I had to drive 90 minutes to get the intermediate shaft and bearing. Here is how you might know it is the intermediate shaft bearing. Ours was making a squeaking as the wheel rotated. At first I thought it might be a wheel bearing, but I ruled that out with a stethoscope and decided it must be the CV axle. What I failed to realize is that there is one more bearing between the CV and the Transaxle and that bearing was bad bad bad. I didn't find this out until I had the CV axle out. So take my advice and check that bearing before you order parts.

I had a 6 month old BMW OEM driveshaft that took a stone and put a pinhole in the CV boot. I caught it right away and figured I'd quick swap in a cheap aftermarket and reboot the good one at some point. TRQ seemed like a great combination of price and quality based on reviews. Well that was almost 2 years ago and the driveshaft is still fine. Unfortunately there's a huge 'BUT' here. New driveshafts were part of a medium term plan to overhaul the entire suspension. And when I finally replaced all the bad bushings, ball joints, etc and got the suspension properly tight again, I started getting crazy creaking and wobbling from this shaft. At which point I decided to swap back the rebooted OEM shaft only to realize that it was a good 1/2" longer than the TRQ. And sure enough, putting the OEM back in immediately eliminated all the wobbles and creaking (I had achieved Carvana!). Its really a shame too. Because the TRQ looked like new after almost 1 1/2 years on the car. The boots are thick and sturdy, the CV joint was still free and clean. It was every bit of the quality of the OEM BMW shaft. But being 1/2" too short is just not acceptable. Now I'm only deducting 1 star for my case. Because if you can confirm for a fact that the shaft you need exactly matches the length of your OEM, then you should ONLY buy these. I can tell you they are as good as any OEM for 1/3 the price. But do not buy or install without verifying fit down to the millimeter. Or you'll just have new problems. TRQ, if you're listening, fix these small fit issues you can rule the world!
