The only surface I have found that this works on is long-fiber or rough carpet. My old one is very flexible and rubbery, so it doesn't slide around on tile and wood. This one slides terribly. I even tried getting it damp but that just makes it more slippery on hard surfaces. Also,the endpin cup is small in diameter, and shallow.

I have had two like this for over 20 years that started to come apart. I love these new ones. I use them to secure a bass drum that has sharp leg points; to keep it from sliding and scratching when I have to play on a tile or stone floor. Works great!

I bought this for my 8-year old. She just started her cello lesson and still trying to find the comfortable posture. This disc is easy to move around comparing with the one attached to the seat. It is thick enough to protect our floor.
