To use, you will need to record your original gravity before fermentation begins. Once fermentation is complete you will need to take another hydrometer reading. With these two numbers you can find the approximate percent ABV. There are many calculators you can use online to compute your products alcohol content with these numbers or you can use the formula below. (Original Gravity - Final Gravity) x 131.25 = ABV% S.G. Scale Of 0.98-1.160, Potential Abv Scale 0-16%, Sugar Per Liter Scale 0-34.

I started making wine at home from my garden fruits. I had another Hydrometer, where reading was so compact, that even with eyeglasses I had hard time to see it.This one has reading more spread, this way it's easier to read what you see.

I broke the first one and bought this as a replacement. These hydrometers are accurate and easy to use.

good and accurate. just be careful not to drop is because it is VERY VERY FRAGILE. a plastic one might be more durable.

Ordered this after the one that came in our beer brewing kit shattered. It works perfectly and is exactly what we needed!

Have been home brewing mead for about a year now. I have always known it was to strong after fermenting and would just dilute to taste. Finally got this hydrometer, Mead was above 23%. Crazy high. Was able to pull it down to the right level and start the next batch with the correct amount of honey in it. Will see if that turns out better.

Slightly different in size than the previous one that I owned, which I accidentally dropped.. It seems to be calibrated correctly though so I am happy. Does seem maybe a little thinner than my last one too, but not extremely so, fairly good quality glass. Came in a two piece plastic tube. Same as my old one. I like it, would recommend it to anyone who wants a hydrometer, it seems worth the price.
