I have yet to use the safety lanyard as I’ve made my own. The harness is comfortable and has served me well. The spurs should be thrown away as they simply belong in the garbage. They are a torture device for your legs and feet. I had on tube socks, long pants and stuffed socks between the purs and my shins and what was minutes up in a tree seemed like hours. The pain was unbearable. Even have bruises and lacerations to prove it.

Bought this kit because I have 2 dozen trees on my property and paying someone to come out and trim them would cost me thousands of dollars. Not happening in this economy haha.Lets start with the good. The price is great, and this kit will certainly get you up into the trees. The harness is very comfortable, easy to adjust, and is well stitched so there shouldn't be any worries about it ripping. The steel core flipline is a great addition and its a definite MUST HAVE if you plan on using a chainsaw to trim with. That's about all there is to like about this kit.The crappy things. The gaffs (spikes)....they're garbage. The pads have a heavy curl to them that makes them dig into your legs so hard that you will have bruises within minutes, and the pad position is not adjustable so if you're tall you just get to deal with pressure mid-shin. The spikes attach at the bottom of the bar instead of up around the instep. This moves the point of force from your leg to the instep of your shoe and causes the bar to dig in so much that even in good work boots, you'll be lucky to last 20 minutes. Also, don't plan on walking around in them. Because the spikes extend 2 inches below the bottom of the foot, and walking will just jam them into the ground and dull them. Which means the next climb WILL slip. All-in-all they're just very poorly designed. Will they work in a pinch? Yep. Will you be comfortable? Nope...no you won't. If you're going to spend the $200 anyway, just buy the harness, flipline, and gaffs separate. It'll be about the same money and you won't be in pain trying to chainsaw a limb 30 feet off the ground.

Been getting into tree climbing lately, and this gear set has been my trusty companion. Everything feels sturdy and well-made. First time out, I was a bit nervous, but the harness and ropes held up great. Makes the ascent way smoother. For anyone new or even seasoned in tree climbing, I'd say this set's a solid pick, just make sure to have a partner around :) .
