Installed this on my trash can to stop the local racoons from having their way with it. Works great. My only recommendation would be to add some sticky foam or gel tape to the bottom of the metal brackets to waterproof the install. I added my own, and they're fully waterproof even through some pretty massive rains.

No more bottle collectors…Product did not come with a lock but is great quality & easy to install with a drill bit to make the holes. Will also help with any animals trying to open. Came with two & using one on each bin.

Overall, these locks are effective and have already prevented the bears from getting in twice. However, the little plastic sleeves that wrap around the ends of the cable where they connect to the clips slide right off and down the cable. Also, I’ve only had them installed for about two weeks and the screws are rusting. I’ll need to replace them with stainless steel screws since they are outside always.Still, they are solid cables and do their job well.

These work amazingly!! I was so tired of having to clean up after the racoons decided to make my garbage bin their person buffet restaurant. Didn't take much to drill the holes and place the hooks. Sturdy and strong straps. Racoons be damned!!

Wish I bought these sooner! A whole year without picking up ripped up trash-bags. One less headache before work & feeling like a dirty trash bucket afterwards. Bears were d*cks often. I live next to a campground & the first house. I got hit the worst compared to my neighbors. Not anymore

Very easy to install and seems very sturdy. So good that since I installed it the bear hasn’t returned. Only complaint would be the screws aren’t true stainless and they have surface rust after only couple months.

These locks are just what I needed to secure the garbage can lid. Here are a few pros:I deep cleaned the bin (it needed it)There are times when garbage pick-up is delayed and that leaves our bins open for the neighborhood cat to tear through. Having the locks now gives me peace of mind because since installing, there have been zero issues with the cat feasting and making a mess in the middle of the night.I also no longer worry about the wind opening the lid or even hearing it flap in the wind. I always worry about the lid breaking when it does. The last pro: from a distance, the carabiners look like small key/combination locks. I noticed the neighbors have stopped throwing their unbagged trash into my bin. If you needed to, you could replace the carabiners with actual locks. I should mention that the carabiner tension (the clasp?) is soft but still has a good spring back. I have very arthritic hands and wrists and I’m still able to open the carabiner to unlatch the cable. The locks were (mostly) easy to install and came with all the exact necessary hardware (aka no extra pieces/screws). All I provided was the drill. To install, I positioned the ends of the cable where I wanted them, used a pencil to mark the drill spots , drilled the holes, and then attached. I chose to leave a little slack in the cable just in case of overflow.
