This was fairly easy to install on my wife’s 2008 Jeep Wrangler Ulimited Sahara. Cheap fix for the transfer case shift cable. Bought 2 because I hear the Jeep fan club say this is a common wear item, so I have an extra now.

Inexpensive, but not a simple install. While one would think the bushing would just push right in, it does not. You HAVE to heat the bushing up in some manner. I placed it in water I had just boiled. A couple minutes in the water and the bushing will be pliable, but only for about a minute. If you are replacing the bushing at the transfer case, be under the truck and ready to go before you take it out if the water. It is still a pain to get into the ring on the cable, but that is more of a bad jeep design. Once it was in the ring, it popped over the stud with no problem and held securely.

These can only be installed by pressing them in like a ball joint, then the lip is damaged and won't retain the cable end. In my frustration of working with 3 of them and extreme fears of frustration I finally went to the dealer and bought the OEM, which while still rigid was pliable enough to push in by hand, and was retained when I popped it back off.I imagine if they would have a slightly larger lip on the exterior they would last longer, but this was a poor product.

These worked perfectly on my ‘07 wrangler after I warmed them up in the oven at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes. Without heat, the part was too rigid to install. I could have used a heat gun but I wanted to make sure the temp didn’t get too high and affect the plastic.

Thus 4/pack for $9.99 is the way to go!Do your homework before buying and save money!Over the years, we’ve always talked junk about what the dealership charges but these days, the auto parts stores are charging more than the dealerships.Soooo, if you want it now, it’s going to cost you but if you can wait 1-day, save money and have three spares for the trail! For reference, this part at todays pricesMopar OEM 68065273AB $11.50 1-day deliveryAdvance Help section Dorman 14797 $20.99 in stockAutozone Help Dorman 14797 $24.99 in stockNAPA Dorman 14797 $12.50 in stockOreilly's Dorman 14797 $19.99 in stockAmazon - 4 pack $9.99 1-day delivery

Good product! Was hard to install out of the box to get into female side of the shifter but if you put it in a mug with water and heat it up with the bushing inside it gets soft and is able to be easily installed!!! works great now
