My son decided he wanted paracord to make sheaths, handles, replace shoes strings, and probably about 50 other things. :) He used this stuff for everything it seemed like. He never really tested it's pull strength but it seemed very tough to us. I used a piece to replace a pull start on my old push mower and it is still on there working great.

Sold as paracord IV (750 lb) but definitely not paracord IV, there were only 8 strands, making it mid-grade paracord III. This stuff is rated for 750 lbs, and I snapped it with WAY less. Doubled or tripled up, it's strong enough for my needs. The smaller amounts come in a plastic bag and not on a roll. The cord seems to hold up well when wet, but I haven't exposed it to prolonged sunlight, but I have a feeling it will deteriorate quickly. For the price, this cord is good, and you get a good price per foot. So if you aren't expecting too much, you'll be ok.

I have waited a long time to write this review as I wanted to see how this cord performed outdoors. I planned to use this out doors as a trellis, tying between posts to hang bird meshes etc. and I wanted to use something that could withstand sub-tropical sun, rain and wind. I have to say that this cord works beautifully. Ordinary twine would have deteriorated after a year of abuse by strong sun and UV, but this one withstood the test of time. I have not had a chance to compare its performance with ordinary twine, but I will update this review when I get a chance to do that. I will be buying a lot more of this cord as I think that it proves to be more economical than twine in the long run. This cord is produced in the USA by a family run business. I really loved the fact that they care deeply about the quality of their product and their customers. Full disclosure - I received a sample of their para cord product and some really great eBooks. I waited a long time to write an unbiased review and I can honestly say that my review would stay the same -- free sample or not!

While not a veteran I do have over 15 years of experiences as a Boy Scout leader. As a newbie I'd buy whatever cord I could find in the camping department of where ever. As time went on, and failures occurred, I soon learned that paracord was my best friend for putting up shade and rain fly's especially under less than favorable conditions. (Why is it after weeks of sunshine it pours cats and dogs the weekend you go camping??)My son's are grown now but I still like to keep a few feet of cord "handy". I like to use it to lace my work boots, usually in black. I must admit it comforting to know that I have close to 10 feet of cord with me at all times without the need for additional accoutrements. (I already wear a watch, I don't need a Ranger bracelet as well.) Also nice to know my boot laces will never ever break (like on the morning I'm already late for work). The last bit of cord I used for laces out lasted the boots themselves and it was only the 550 pound stuff. The 750 pounder will be that much better by being stronger and more durable.I purchased the 50 foot Hank of 750 cord. With a 6' span I got 8 spans with roughly 2' left over. I did cut a sample and found eleven strands of white plus a color coded strand. While I can feel the beefiness of the 750 pound cord I ready can't see the difference. As stated above I used this particular cord for laces for my work boots. You will need to melt the ends if using for laces. I use a lighter and a pair of pliers. While the end is still soft I give a little press with the pliers. Rotate the cord and repeat. With some practice I'm able to get in three "squeezes" while the end is still soft. This melting needs to be done fairly well otherwise the laces won't go thru the holes, at least the holes in my boots.Bottom line; the product feels beefy, I've had no problems tying knots in it, I received 50 foot as specified. I plan on ordering more for family camping. The only question is do I get the reflective or standard neon yellow. I used to use black for guy lines for family camping until my youngest was running thru the campsite and did his Superman impression. Since then it's only been bright colors or white.I have not received this product for my positive review. I purchased it outright and will purchase lots more.

First thing I did was replace the "shoe strings" on my survival knife sheath that ties to my leg, and the othe string on the knife butt. I feel this will be stronger and can be used if needed. The rest I folded up after melting the ends, but ended up tieing a knot on the ends just in case. So the other 40 some feet fit in a small zipper bag perfect. I plan on using it for a tent and tarps, I was going to tie a tarp over the tent area in the trees. I havent tried it yet. And I bought 20 stakes... I think i can put a stakes for the ground tarp and tent farther away and tie it to the paracord if needed. Also maybe be able to make an emergency outdoor shelter tying a tarp to trees. I wanted 100 feet but I was pressing my budget. I also played with wrapping knife handles and sheathes with it, but I folded it up because I need to not cut it up untill I see how much ill need when I set up my tent out back. I am still experimenting. I think i'll use some for shoelaces! I would always have some for emergencies on my shoes. I just have to seal the ends with fire, maybe crazy glue. So far I like it, and want more. I can think of plenty of uses. I need to learn to braid bracelets, and it would be great to hang a pendant on instead of thecheap string that comes with some pensants. Soft and flexable... I thought it would be fatter and stiff. I wonder how weight much 1 strand can hold? My cat likes it too.. attacking it trying to fold it up lol.
