About this item

  • HIGH-STRENGTH, LIGHTWEIGHT TWO-PART EPOXY FILLER smooths out the rough spots and fills the voids; ideal for filling and fairing dents, holes and gouges on your boat, canoe or other watercraft. Marine-grade putty is also great for home, rv and auto repair.
  • SUPER SMOOTH FINISH FOR PERMANENT, WATERPROOF REPAIRS: Marine filler bonds strongly to damaged areas and cures without pinholes on wood, aluminum, steel and fiberglass repair areas; cured TotalFair is waterproof; use above and below the waterline.
  • NEW IMPROVED FORMULA EASY TO MIX AND APPLY: Foolproof 1 to 1 mix ratio - just mix blue and yellow components until they turn green. Now easier to scoop, mix, spread, and feather to a fine edge; won't sag on vertical and overhead surfaces.
  • CURES FAST. EASY TO SAND AND PAINT: Quick-drying compound is ready to sand in just 4 hours at 80°F; cured fairing compound sands even easier with improved formula; compatible with latex and epoxy primers and paints
  • CHOOSE KIT SIZE: 2-PINT KIT, 2-QUART KIT or 1-GALLON KIT. NOTE: TotalBoat Gelcoat should not be applied directly over TotalFair or gelcoat will not cure properly. Before applying gelcoat, apply TotalBoat 2-Part Epoxy Primer or TotalProtect over TotalFair.

Next time you get a dent or ding in your boat, don't go to the boatyard, fix it yourself with TotalBoat TotalFair epoxy fairing compound. This lightweight two-part premium marine epoxy putty is ideal for fairing, filling, and shaping, making it the perfect total boat fairing compound for repairs all over your boat. Because TotalFair bonds strongly and has a high tolerance for flexing without cracking, it's ideal for hulls, decks, keels, topsides and more. It's also great for fixing dings and dents on your car, motorcycle, or rv. This waterproof marine fairing compound can be used above or below the waterline on fiberglass, aluminum, steel, wood and cast iron. TotalFair has a simple 1 to 1 mix ratio and changes to a green color when you mix the blue and yellow components for 3-5 minutes. Its thick, creamy consistency makes this fiberglass fairing compound easy to spread, and helps it hold its shape on vertical and overhead surfaces. If you're fairing a large gouge, we recommend a 6 to 1 width to depth ratio per application. For deep/narrow areas that exceed 6 to 1, you'll need to apply TotalFair in stages, building depth with each application. At 80°F, TotalFair is ready to sand in just 3 hours to a smooth, pinhole-free surface. Be sure to wear protective gloves when mixing, and a proper respirator when sanding cured TotalFair. Do not apply gelcoat directly on cured TotalFair or the gelcoat will not cure properly. Apply TotalBoat 2-Part Epoxy Primer or TotalBoat TotalProtect Barrier Coat before applying gelcoat. Compare TotalFair to two-part epoxy putty products such as Interlux Watertite Epoxy Filler, Awlgrip Awlfair, System Three Quikfair, 3M premium marine filler, Pro Set, 4100 and Pettit EZ Fair. TotalFair epoxy filler is also stronger and more waterproof than a vinylester or polyester fairing compound. Store at 60-90°F. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters, by boaters to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

I'm working on a Lund Pike. I'm using the putty to seal the seams and edges of the deck. This is the 1st time using this stuff. I like it allot. It's easy to mix, plenty of working time, it's strong when dried. Then if I have an area that didn't smooth out when I was troweling it on. It's easy to go back to that spot 45 minutes or so later and with the putty knife trim excess or smooth rough spots. It also dries hard but sands nice. Cleaning up tools I've been using xylol it wipes right off. The only thing I didn't like was the price. It's good but 80 dollars good I guess I've never used anything that compares but still...

This is my second batch used in the restoration of a 23ft Jersey Beach Skiff. Compound is easy to mix, 1:1 ratio. Goes on smooth with the use of flexible plastic scrapers. Dry's to a sandable surface with in a few hours and I've been able paint over this compound within a few days. I've only used this on wood hull and deck surfaces and it's worked wonderfully to smooth out dings, gouges and some areas that had been over sanded leaving dish shaped depressions on the hull. Solid product!

Fairing compound is really easy to mix, apply and later sand. Used it to repair sanded down paint blisters on my fiberglass pool. Final test will be to see how fairing compound accepts epoxy primer and coating.

Well, I wish I'd read all the reviews before I bought this.It doesn't seem fair to review the product because I feel like I didn't actually get the real product.Like another purchaser, the "blue" component wasn't blue on top, it was green - and the consistency of the blue stuff underneath was close to modeling clay (see pic). The yellow component on the other hand was the correct color and the consistency of smooth peanut butter.I feel like the blue compound was either not packed well, or just old and/or contaminated.Regardless, we are in the middle of nowhere and unable to drive to get a replacement - and we had to fair this past weekend - so we tried to use it. Big mistake. Mixed too thick, cured too fast, and once sanded, it is covered in pinholes.I've reached out to what I believe is their customer support by email and if I hear from them and get a replacement, I will update this review with how the product actually works...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUPDATE:I've been emailing with their Support Team and was told: "The blue component is now a little thicker than it used to be and the green tinge on top is normal. When mixed with the yellow at the right proportion it will turn into a creamy mixture that is easy to spread."I responded and told him that I made sure I mixed it using two equal sized measuring cups - so I know the volumes were identical. I used a 3M paper palette, good plastic mixing/application boards, and mixed in the standard figure-8 pattern until it was a uniform green color. However, what I got was not exactly a "creamy mixture that is easy to spread."It was a sort of creamy, but mostly dense mixture and the finished product left many small air bubbles that turned into pinholes after sanding. His response was to copy and paste the same email as before.I have to finish the work this weekend, so I'm going to dump the blue component out of the tub, knead it like dough, and then mix it and see if it works any better. Will update with results and until I see better performance, it remains one star.

We are working in 50 degree humid winter weather but it still worked great. We let it sit all night before sanding. It was very difficult to mix at 50 degrees. Like mixing Plato but we got it done. I wouldn’t smooth the entire hull with this as it doesn’t sand as easily as other finishing applications. We will use it for small areas.

I did some fiberglass work on my fifth wheel camper. After talking to some fiberglass guys, they all recommended total. I love this product.

Easy to mix, easy to work with, sanded lovely! So far the spots I patched have not shown through the paint. I did “prime” the wood with penetrating epoxy from total boat. I did not know before I bought it, but if the wood you are going to patch is soft or “punky” you can brush on one or more coats of penetrating epoxy, then when that is “tacky” you can fill with the fairing compound and let the cure together and they will bind together! I feel like they should advertise this option more. It worked really good for me, as I bought the penetrating epoxy for another part of the boat, but after reading this option decided to mix a little to prime my fill spots too

This is the first time I have used this product on any project and I was thoroughly impressed. It mixes easily and it's very forgiving if the mix ratio is off a little. It dries quickly, and sands extremely well. It bonds to fiberglass, and primer making fabrication a breeze. Lastly, a little goes a long way. This fiberglass pod was fabricated using the overmold method which leaves a very rough and uneven surface. I used less then a gallon of Fairing compound to make this shell paint ready. The pod is 2x3x4 feet. I would strongly recommend this product for anybody involved in a fiberglass repair or fabrication project. It is so much easier to use than bondo.
