Product Description

  • Works with all SCS Cameras and with 940nM IR capable cameras. IR effect will be reduced for 850nM cameras.
  • Increase the brightness and range for your security camera with night vision capability.
  • For indoor use only.
  • Quality LED elements for long lasting operation.

.

This discrete IR lamp will illuminate the whole room with total invisible 940nM wave length spectrum.

Increase the brightness and range for your security camera with night vision capability.

Super compact yet strong 940nM IR lamp at low power consumption.

As long as your camera is equipped with 940nM filter lens, this IR lamp will let the camera see in total dark like a daytime with zero glow from the IR (850nM filter will work but the IR effect will be lessened by about 50%)

The lamp will provide wide angle beam to cover the whole room. Some models come with a light sensor that will turn the light ON and OFF automatically.

Quality LED will last years and years.

.

--- Is your camera 940nM IR lamp compatible? ----

If your camera comes with a night vision feature with built-in IR LEDs and remains total dark at night, most likely your camera is equipped with a 940nM IR filter. However, if LEDs glow red at night, (you must look at it closely head on) it is 850nM system and will not work 100% with our 940nM IR lamp.

I'm genuinely conflicted in how to review this product. On one hand, it is a small, sleek, well built device. It does function as an IR illuminator. Unfortunately that's where my praise ends. There are a few flaws, and there are some things that are downright misleading in this items description.1. The claim that the LEDs are invisible to the naked eye is false. In a dark room, there is a soft red glow from each LED. It's not bright, but it is by no means invisible. It is noticeable.2. The description clearly states that this unit has 6 infrared LED emitters. The unit I received has only four. The two middle solder pads are empty. I don't know if this was a manufacturing error, or if the other LEDs were upgraded to chips with higher output to make up for the two missing emitters. Regardless, I can't help but wonder if it should be brighter?I was willing to pay a premium over other small IR emitters for the stealthy qualities of this illuminator, but ultimately I'm left wondering if it is worth the price.Note: To the reviews complaining about heat. This is an infrared (ok, near-infrared) illuminator. Infrared radiation IS heat. All infrared (or near infrared in this case) will produce heat by their very nature. Does this device get warm to the touch? Yes. Is it warm enough to cause harm? Absolutely not.

Having the charge port where it currently is makes it hard to point the light straight up. That's what you want to do to light up a room with indirect light.

**Visibility:** The product listing indicates that this package includes six emitters. However, upon inspecting the device with a cellphone camera while it is active, only four emitters are discernible. This was further confirmed using a 940nm security camera, which also displayed only four emitters. Notably, the emitters are fully visible to the naked eye, even in low light and from a side angle. By using a pen light I could make out the bank of six emitter spots but only 4 appear to active.Side note: there appears to be a light diode of the device which detected and turns the device on during low light. A switch to bypass, to force on, or a dial to adjust the threshold would be nice in some scenarios i.e. living room with TV or other light source that may cause the device to bounce on and off repeatedly.**Heat:** I left the device powered on overnight, and the emitters were noticeably warm to the touch even through the plastic cover.Depending on circuit design, it is possible that if the device had all six emitters active, the output of each individual emitter would not be as high, potentially reducing the excess heat generation and visible light emission.**Design:** The cube provides a way to have the emitters present without drawing the eye to a bank of lights. Would work great in a living or family room on a mantel. As noted in another review, it performs better when the emitters face upwards; however, with the power port located at the back, it is impractical to set up the device in this orientation without additional support, which looks weird given the price this device is at.**Recommendations:** I suggest reviewing the quality assurance processes to verify that devices are working with six emitters or consider reducing the current supplied to the 4 emitters, if only 4 are populated. If the design is for six emitters but only four are active, this results in excessive current draw per individual emitter, leading to overheating, reduced lifespan, and an emission in the lower visual red spectrum. A potential redesign could involve repositioning the emitters to the top or evenly distributing them between the top and front. Given the dimensions of this cube, there appears to be sufficient space to incorporate emitters around the usb ports on the top while maintaining some on the front for optimal upwards and forward projection.Honestly I bought this just to be an emitter and possiblely daisy chain the camera from it. Not concerned with the"covertnes" as other emitters were just banks of lights that were distracting given the location and didn't fit in with the decor and placement. Only returning because of the heat generated and the inactive emmiters leading to long-term concerns.I would be interested in trying this protect again if the above issues are resolved.

USB ports don’t work so I couldn’t plug a camera into it to daisy chain. LEDs are extremely dim. Can’t even tell it’s on unless I point the camera directly at the emitters. I’ve tried several 940nm cameras to be sure, and several high quality/high power USB charger blocks. I’ll be returning this garbage.

Update: works better and illuminates better if you point the lights upwards. Then the red glow is not very noticeable at all and the whole room is lit up. It's trivium to get it to stand upwards, because the power cable plug is on that end. But it's doable, especially if you stick it to the wall. Can very clearly be seen by naked human eye in a dark room.

Does a great job illuminating my toddler's room so that we can actually see him from across the room on the baby monitor. Compatible with the Infant Optics DXR-8 baby monitor and likely any other models out there. My only complaint is that it does get warm to the touch when operating, but not warm enough to do any harm.

This unit doesn't provide any illumination at all. I used the correct adapter, zero output. Save your money.
