Toroid mix 31Just what I needed to create an RF choke .

I had RFI getting into my computer while operating in digital modes. I used this core to create a choke on the antenna feed line coax where it connects to the tuner. This stopped the problem, and I no longer get "lock-ups" and other RFI symptoms on transmit in digital modes.

I use these for my Ham Radio Baluns and Un-un builds. They're excellent for End fed half wave 's and 9:1 HF transformers. I recently wound up a 49:1 for an EFHW, it's broad banded and does not saturate easy even up to 200w for a single core. Not the cheapest but one of the best!

Very toroid looking. Made up of itsy bitsy pieces of iron powder, just like a good toroid should. Big enough to do some good toroiding. Actually, I haven't used it yet, but when I do: WATCH OUT. I'm sure this thing will do some serious filtering. I'm not sure how to empty it and how often. Anyone know?

This is the right mix to make a choke for common mode current. I built this choke to put on the feed point of my fan dipole it seems to be working quite well.

Bought it for a getaway trip. Works great hanging from a dipole in winter in Michigan. High quality. Would buy again. P

While I can't tell whether it's a genuine Fair-Rite ferrite ring or not, it does a good job of choking common mode current on 10m, 15m, and 20m, from what I have seen so far. The price is fair as well.

I have a battery booster for my Ham radio that is creating RFI. I will use these to filter the RFI from the power line and antenna cable.

I have purchased several FT-240-31 toroids in the past and always paid a little more. Looking at other reviews it seems, like me, people find these very useful and of good quality but thought they were a bit pricey. In my opinion, however, this seller removed any reason not to give five stars by lowering their price (below what I paid even three years ago). If you are a radio operator & use flexible coaxial cable, like RG-8X or RG-58, to feed your antennas then you are going to love these! Just pass the antenna connector (ex. PL-259) and at least 2' of cable up through the middle of the toroid and use a vinyl cable tie to secure the toroid to the cable so it can't slide. Then, repeat the process of passing the connector/plug up through the center nine more times, winding counter clockwise until you have ten tight loops around the donut. Finally just secure the cable to the toroid body as it exits the 10th time with another cable tie and "Voila", you now have an choke that will keep stray RF energy from using your feedline to interfere with your station equipment and cause noise. Just FYI the "240" describes the size of the donut and you need one this big to work with coaxial cable the size of RG-8X with PL-259 connectors, and the 31 mix is perfect for use with all the HF bands up to 30 MHz.

No issues with it. Be smart and label the type of toroid it is on it with a Sharpie or whatever as it has no markings and it'll be a pain to tell them apart if you get another type the same size.
