  • Torklift S9528 FastGun Derringer

Torklift FastGun Derringer easily and economically transforms your old fashioned truck camper turnbuckles. Each precision made derringer comes with lifetime guarantee and is designed to thread easily on to 1/2 inch threaded rods found on all major truck camper turnbuckle brands, or can easily adapt to any turnbuckle by using the supplied eye bolts. FastGun locks sold separately.

My old truck didn't have any interferences with the gas door but my new truck does. Tjese solve the problem as you can quickly loosen the tiedown and fill up. I ordered these because I already had some nice spring loaded turnbuckles. They are made for just such an application and the package contains everything you need to do whatever type of connection you choose with the Deringer. Torklift is always the highest quality as you would expect for the price. If you already have the turnbuckles all you need is this kit. It will save a bunch versus the full FastGun setup.

Derringers came out good after a little adjustment and extra nuts and lock washers which are not included. The square nuts that are included aren't machined for 1/2 inch threaded rod. Instructions don't say where rubber grommets go onto threaded rod. But well worth the effort and price .

These are great. Didn't buy the fast guns at first but probably should have. Retrofitted my standard takedowns with these fantgun adapters. They were a little difficult to put together. The pinch nut that goes at the end of the all thread inside the gun handle is difficult to tighten. Definitely not as easy as the videos or the written instructions.

First off, if you're going to install these on Torklift Spring Loads, go out and buy a new, high quality hack saw blade - the steel on the Spring Load hooks is hard and high grade. It took me about 15-20 minutes each to install these, and that includes the time it took to cut the hooks off one end of the Torklift spring loads, and file down the burrs. Instructions are sketchy and the pictures are horrible, but it's fortunately pretty straight forward. Once installed, tension adjustment is easy, and in use, they allow for quick release for fueling up (one Spring Load blocks my gas cap), and camper removal.

First, once I got them built per the instructions, they work awesome and are going to save a lot of time. However, these are a total PIA to build. The instructions that are included are small photocopies with terrible pictures to follow along. If you want to use rods instead of the eye bolts, it is extremely difficult and time consuming. You have to feed the rod at an angle through the derringer in order to get a wrench on the dimple nut. You can't just feed the rod straight up the derringer and then back down, as the square nut is too large to get back down past the handle connections. You could grind the nut down to fit inside the entire apparatus, but I didn't go that route. Once you get the dimple nut secured (which is a feat in itself), it's almost impossible to seat the square nut back inside the derringer. You can try to "thread" the derringer back down into place, as the rod hole binds up with the threads on the rod. That only gets you so far. Then you have to try and beat the nut back down into place. Doing so, damages the threads on the rod and makes getting the securing nut back up into place a bit difficult. The quick method is to use the eye bolts. The "want to pull your hair out and break s**t with a hammer" method is to use the all-thread rod method. The photos in the instructions show a different style of derringer where the the dimple nut sits on top, instead of inside the derringer, which would make things way less difficult. On a side note, I went and bought 1/2"-13 coated all-thread so I didn't have to cut up my Torklift turnbuckles.

I used these to convert my Torklift XLs to quick release. I didn’t have fastgun money so I bought the XLs but then I got tired of cranking the XLs down every time I load the camper. These derringers make it take a lot less time and effort when loading and unloading the camper. Worth every penny

I converted my Springload XL turnbuckles (which I inherited when I bought my camper) to FastGuns using the Derringer, and I am really pleased with how much easier they work. It's a bit of an investment (I also bought locks), but if you already have a turnbuckle system, it's way less expensive than buying the FastGuns.Installation warnings: it took quite a while to hacksaw through the 1/2" steel threaded rods on the turnbuckles I was converting, to the point where my elbow was in pain after cutting through just one. Perhaps I should have simply used the eyebolt alternative, but fortunately I have a friend with a machine shop, and his metal chop saw took care of the remaining three rods in a minute or two. But if you don't have such a friend, be prepared to do the cutting over a period of time (perhaps after arming yourself with a six-pack). Also, the instructions are pretty crappy, and the accompanying photos are too low-res to be of much help. I found an online video that helped, and Torklift's customer service guys are very helpful.BTW, I am very pleased with all the Torklift products I have bought -- Stableloads and the frame-mounted tie-down system (beautifully customized for my F-250 frame), as well as the Derringer handles -- all high-quality products.

Seems like it will be a good addition to the camper. i wish the body was SS rather than aluminum, alum is not as strong as SS. Good product that will speed up the hold down process, as long as I load the camper in the same exact spot each time, otherwise there will be some adjustments to be made.
