I was skeptical to buy this since there were not a ton of reviews. I am impressed with how well built it is. It was very easy to install. The blower works great, way better than my old one. As for loudness at full speed it is no louder that the one I had. Heats the room quickly. Great product so far.

Had to modify to fit my stove it definitely worth compared to the squirrel cage design it replaced. Doesn't get clogged up with dust and lint like the squirrel cage design

Only thing I would change is have the thermostat magnetic or provide longer screws..... everything else is perfect

This product , first of all, is NOT universal.. be sure and check your measurements! The fans only put out enough air to barely be felt on high, and then they are noisy! Don't waste your time or money

I replaced the blower that came with my Regency CL1250, and wow!-- This makes a world of difference. The little stove went from being a nice piece of decoration to something that can actually heat the entire house.Note that you need to baffle this correctly, as described in an earlier review. When I first installed the fan, I just shoved it underneath my firebox and hoped it would work. While slightly quieter, It was really no improvement from the "squirrel cage" fan. Once I packed fiberglas insulation around it, whoomph! Tons of airflow at a MUCH improved noise level.Edit: Another thing I would recommend would be to place rubber or silicone feet underneath the legs. This will further reduce the noise by dampening the vibrations that would otherwise resonate through your stove.

The 330CFM rating on the description is extremely exaggerated. This unit is more capable of producing between 150-200 CFM which is very disappointing if you actually expect 330 cfm. I choose not to return it because my old squirrel cage style blower needed replacement and for the price I paid for this one it equals in performance. The temperature switch works well and is adjustable and installation was fairly simple. Maybe with a newer style fireplace insert that has better airflow design you could get maximum efficiency from this thing.

I installed this by essentially pushing it to the back of the space under my gas log set and let it go at that. It has some foam strips to rest on and is essentially silent, other than the fan noise (no rattling). It has a rheostat to adjust the blower speed--this I placed outside of the fireplace, along the floor. The wires were just barely long enough to reach from the back to the front of the box to do this. It also has a thermostat that engages at 90 degrees and above. As it was resting on a concrete slab (and would probably never get above that temperature to turn on) I removed it and used a couple of nails (clipped off) to essentially by-pass it; then wrapped it up in electrical tape. Once the return period expires, I plan to cut off the spade clips and use a wire nut for a permanent fix (thank you to another reviewer that gave me this idea). My firebox did not have power under it so I ran the included power cable out the bottom of my fire box and connected it to a power-strip plugged into the wall and use that to turn it on and off. Now, for power--I really have nothing to compare it to other than when it is off (hey, I live in the South and we just don't need heat down here, so I don't know of anyone else with a fire place). With the blower on I can feel heat "push" about 2 feet away from the wall (my firebox is inset, and flush with the wall). The underside of the mantle is still warm, but not "very hot" to the touch as it was before. I left my house fan on, and the house seemed to warm up much quicker. It's really hard to tell, as we don't get that cold weather down here. As a bonus, after turning the fire off, I left the blower on until it blew cool air out. I am sure that air would not have made it into my house otherwise. This feels solid and well made. I believe a lot of thought went into the design and they did a great job with it. What would I like to see improved? The wires for the fan speed and the thermostat need to be longer. Also, I would have liked a significant feeling of air blowing from the top vents of the fireplace--but I think that is probably unrealistic at this price point.

The fan definately puts out more air than I had expected. You must expect though, with this much power, the fan is a little bit noisier than one of the roller fan types. I still am very glad I bought this one though. I love the temperature sensor and speed control. When watching a movie I turn it down to half speed and hardly hear it at all and the air flow is still quite sufficient.

I tried replacing the old, noisy block fans in my Security Chimney BIS 1.2 with one of the small tangential blowers that was supposedly rated at 160 CFM- the kind that are most common when searching for fireplace blowers on Amazon. The one I got was incredibly weak, had an annoying, constant up and down speed shift that made it sound a little like a dentist's drill in the next room and just did not come close to moving the same amount of air as the two old block fans it (tried to) replace. I returned it- good riddance. This Tjernlund 330 CFM Blower is like a hurricane hair dryer in comparison the tangential model. It puts out as much hot air at medium speed as the old block fans- and it quieter. When fully cranked it is louder (still quieter than the old ones when they were cranked), but it pumps out hot air with a vengeance.I did have to disconnect the thermo-switch since my fireplace did not have a good spot for the heat sensor (and the wire for the sensor was pretty short). I just leave it set at full blast on the included speed switch and run it from a rheostat-type wall switch that I had previously wired. The modifications took a couple of minutes and were a piece of cake.If you can fit this in your fireplace, don't even think of wasting time with the long, low tangential fans. This one would easily "blow them away".
