perfect replacement for my existing logs

I've long felt that having remote functionality added to my fireplace was something I needed to do. This came across my feed, and I took a leap. I love it! Installation was simple, but I took a roundabout way to get to the simple way of doing it.I first tried to replace my wall switch with the included box. My first issue was that the white cover for the switch didn't fit properly, and needed to be trimmed a little around the physical switch. Once installed, it all worked great, but the look of the switch with its battery door wasn't winning any trophies for appearance.I next took the remote control box out of the wall, returned my original switch to the wall, and instead wired this into the fireplace itself. This was much easier, as I just had to remove the wires going to the switch from the control box and wire this remote controller into the fireplace. I was a little concerned that the metal surround for the fireplace and accompanying metal face would create some issue with the RF signal getting through. I'm happy to report that there's no issues. With this setup I can still use the original wall switch to turn on or off the fireplace as well as use the remote. The remote's on/off function is easy, super handy, and has no range issues in my living area. The thermostat function works well too, but isn't something we use a lot.

I just connected this remote control kit to my Jotul Sebago propane stove. The electrical installation is simple; just push the female disconnects onto the terminals marked "TH" and "TH/TP", plug the other end of the cable into the back of the receiver box and add batteries (NOT supplied) to the receiver and the remote transmitter. Now you have a fireplace remote! This kit is about one third of the cost of name brand kits and functions exactly the same. It comes with both black and white faceplates and battery compartment covers for use if you are able to put it in a receptacle box in the wall - a good thing to set up in advance in new construction. In my case I fabricated a bracket from a couple of angle brackets and hung it under the stove. The tiniest of nitpicks is that I'd like to replicate this on my Flipper Zero as I've done with several other single purpose remotes. It does not appear to be infrared as it still controls the stove even with it held under a blanket. I cannot get the Flipper Zero to register it on the sub-GHz app. Perhaps it uses a different frequency range than most other remotes do.

It replaces older identical units in my gas logs and works as good or better than originals
