Great filter for the money, must have if you're doing shoots during the day to reduce glare

Grabbed this piece for my camera so I could use it for a beach vacation mostly, but will keep using it for my wedding photography. I use a canon 90D and mostly shot with my 60mm 2.8 usm macro. It worked great, I can tell a huge difference in my photos when it's a super sunny day especially. This are two i took while we were there. The blue hues are vibrant, the water became more clear (less reflection). I didn't lose a ton of quality in my photos like I was wondering about. It brought a lot of vividness to most of my photos. Used it on a wedding yesterday, and the quality was great. Basically sunglasses for your lens** would recommend!

I had an old (20+ years old) Tiffen polarizer that got to be too hard to turn. This new one, like the old one, is an excellent polarizer. My pictures of Colorado this summer look great. This polarizer really helped bring out the greens of trees and deepened the blue of the sky. Some rock surfaces look a lot better using it too.

This is well made and functions perfectly for the purpose of cutting down reflection and deepening blue skies. Does what I needed it for.

May not be a pro quality, but very good. It is helping me a lot in landscape photography to avoid flares due to reflections and sometimes gives a deep blue sky which looks awesome.

I needed a quality circular polarizer to take with me on car shoots. The Tiffen filter works very well. It came free of any marks or dirty on the filter itself. The rotating portion feels really nice. High quality and with smooth operation. This filter helped reduce the reflections the can be seen in a cars paint. It also held to bring out the sky and improve overall contrast of the images.Overall this is a must have for any photographer.

I have other polarizers for other lens sizes, so I pretty much knew what to expect performance wise. It has met my expectations, no issues with the clarity or glare reduction at all. Fits the threads well, spins well, again no issues. I can't say that I have the trained eye to compare it to the super high-end PL filters, but I think it's great. As an avid amateur, I'm very happy with this purchase.

So I dont even have a DSLR. I have a type of Lumix (FZ47) which is one solid unit, but the 52mm lens is threaded for filter use (Hooray!). With Auto-Focus and Manual-Focus capability, my camera has not been affected by the circular polarizer in any of its Focus capabilities. The Circular Polarizer threads onto my lens in One & a Half rotations, and it stays quite solidly on. Now, what the Circular Polarizer is is a two part filter, with one part which screws onto the threads and stays put, and another part which you rotate in the space of quarter turns to change its orientation towards light sources, thus blocking out glare from different directions. I believe this Tiffen (52mm) Circular Polarizer performs as it should. I usually leave it on when on shoots (day-hikes) and never have need to take it off when in light environments. It only dims the incoming light as much as a weak pair of sunglasses would do so. It deepens colours and plain & simply reduces the whitish glare which plagued my nature shots. I find that the level of polarization is spot-on, and I plan to upload a few plain comparison shots in the photos section. I tend to rotate it in the same direction as I screwed it into the threads, because it has, when I was rotating the front element, begun to unscrew the filter base itself; but this is no big problem. It would be hard for me to describe how well the polarization works on all different kinds of situations, mainly because it seems to work in so many, and admirably too. All in all, the filter rotates smooth, polarizes well, fits neatly in the included filter case (I put in a microfiber cloth to keep it from jangling about), and is an easy on & off everyday filter. This is a filter which can't be simulated, as many colour type ones can by internal settings like White-Balance and Colour-Bracketing. I only have needed one filter, a Circular Polarizer, and this model is the one I prefer to use. It was shipped Brand-New to me, came clean and rotating smooth, and that's all!

CIRCULAR POLARIZER:If you have ever owned a pair of Polarized sunglasses, then you now what this filter can do for your camera. By reducing reflections and stray light waves, this filter makes any scene that much clearer. You will see more vibrant colors in bright scenes, your skies will turn a deeper blue, and clouds POP right off the picture. Reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as metal or water.A polarizer works on a specified plain, meaning that the lens must be perpendicular to the direction of the main light source. As with sunglasses, they are parrallel to the ground, which works in most cases since the sun is normally above you.The key to using this filter is that it swivels. Looking through the view finder, turn the filter until the picture is clear and vibrant. You'll notice the image changing as you turn it. In this manner, you may even adjust the level of polarization.A great deal for a very valuable accessory. This filter works perfect, and compared to the higher priced filters, is a steal.----------------------------------------------UV FILTER:The UV Filter prevents haze and reduces bluish tint in photographs by reducing stray UV rays entering the lens. It also has the added benefit of protecting the lens and glass from scratches and accidental damage. There have been stories of photographers dropping their lens and the filter acts as a sort of impact absorber, shattering but leaving the lens unharmed. I would much prefer replacing the inexpensive filter, rather than a lens.In my experience with the Tiffen UV Filter, I have noticed an increased amount of lens flare and reflections over my slightly more expensive UV filters. If I were you, I'd put out the small amount of extra money for a better filter, preferably multi-coated to reduce glare.Enjoy!
