Product Description

Polarizer/Circular Polarizer Essential general-use outdoor color filter Produces deeper skies and minimizes reflections in black and white and color photography Combine a Polarizer with a Red 25 for incredibly dramatic black and white landscapes Can be rotated to achieve desired effect Use the Tiffen Polarizer with the enhancing filter for more dramatic effects A Circular Polarizer has the same effect as a Polarizer and is used on cameras with beam splitting metering systems commonly found on auto focus SLR's (for most 35mm auto-focus cameras see your camera manual). Area of sky most effectively polarized with a Circular Polarizer: Point your index finger at the sun. With your thumb extended at a right angle (90°), rotate it around the axis of the index finger. It will point out the band of deepest blue from horizon to horizon. Polarizing Filters Polarizers provide color and contrast enhancement. Reflected light often shows up as whitish glare that washes out color in an image. A Polarizer corrects this problem producing deep, dramatically blue skies. It also removes glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as windows and water. Color saturation in general, especially outdoors, can be improved significantly.

I use it for removing reflections and making skies bluer

Just make sure it's screwed on tight before use. In Winter it's nice to have on your lenses due to the winter white glare. In summer it's great for clouds!

Tiffen makes a good filter. I've used them for years and never been disappointed. I even had a UV protector on the lens of a DSLR that fell off the fridge once. The Tiffen UV filter did break, unsurprisingly, but the actual lens did not break. So the UV filter served its purpose.Note: you almost always want to have either a Circular Polarizer (this filter) or a UV filter on your camera. You can look up what a CP does; I'm not going to go into it here, but either filter serves to protect your lens from scratches. If you get a scratch on the filter, you just pitch the filter and get a new one. No big deal. If you get a scratch on your actual lens you're out of luck.Tiffen filters are reasonably priced, so having to pitch one due to a scratch is not as painful as it would be with a pricier filter. And the Tiffen filters work just fine, so there's no need to buy one of the more expensive, over-priced brands.

The CPL is quite good maybe a bit expensive. Works well as expected. However, the box packaging looks cheap almost like a knock off. Also beware, it comes with a cheap foam padding which almost ruined my filter by leaving stain marks all over it. I had to use a Zeiss alcohol lens wipe to get it off.

La presentación del estuche no es buena, el filtro se rompió a los pocos meses, no es nada resistente. Además no ajusta completamente en el lente. Se mueve un poco.

Well build and you can feel it as you mount the CPL or while you tune the CPL for max effect on clouds and trees.I stop using this now as I have changed my APSC A6000 to A7R2 sometime back, and changed to the Haida Prof Filters set. Tiffen CPL is indeed good and I would recommend it.

This is a must for landscape shots. Good price, works like a charm. Good quality glass and spins very smoothly. I looked really hard for distortion from the glass and I didn't notice any. I leave it on my lens all the time. Just bought another for Canon 24-70L (77mm threads).

Every photographer should have a circular polariser - they're an incredibly useful asset to keep in your kit bag. Use them to improve the appearance of blue skies, bring out the texture in clouds, reduce unwanted reflections from water, or even just as an ND filter at a push.If you're using decent lenses, it's worth spending a little extra on your polariser - a cheap filter won't do your image quality any favours.I bought this Tiffen part to see if it offered any IQ improvement over the (cheaper) Hoya filters I normally use. I was disappointed to find it really didn't, so my advice would be to save your pennies and get the Hoya HD filter instead.

Great value here folks. The edges are thin with only 1.5 stops of light falloff. You will pay 7 or 8 times more to reduce falloff by a 1/2 stop. I've used shooting NCAA football with great results on bright/sunny days with no cloud cover. The key is to make sure your shadow is front of you preferably at 90 degrees. For sports if your style is such you feel the need to move constantly with your feet likely will be disappointed; will get a blue cast effect if you are not positioned correctly. For this filter to work properly it is important stake out the optimum spot and wait for the action to come to you.
