Wish I had this a long time ago. Took a tray of nuts and bolts, satin front of TV and sorted my life out.

Good design but I think they forgot to Deburr it. It had hanging burrs which made it tough to test out but after I Deburred it it is fine

This is a nice thread checker set for sorting out your mixed hardware or identifying what screw, bolt or nut size you need to pick up at the hardware store. Good assortment of sizes you would normally use around the house or in the garage. All of them being strung out on a cable makes it easy to throw this set in your pocket or your toolbox. The only thing I didn't like was that the markings, only on one side of the checkers, are not readily visible in low light conditions, especially on the silver-colored checkers. This steel set should give the average handyman many years of use.

I've needed this for years. The individual pieces are made quite well the internal and external treads are well formed. I've seen many different versions of thread checkers most are made of aluminum which would wear to quickly and then not be accurate but these are all steel so they'll last a very long time. The cable can be a pain but the fact it keeps them all together so you can't lose pieces outweighs any inconvenience it causes. I'm the type of guy who would rather buy a whole box of nuts or bolts online than go to the hardware store to buy half a dozen bolts in the size I need but I'm not good at identifying nut and bolt sizes just by looking at them so I tend to need to match them up but with this tool I can verify the size and thread pitch so there are no doubts I am ordering the right size. For the asking price this thing is a Bargain.

Nut and bolt gauges help to verify both the size and the condition of threads on nuts and bolts. They can of course also help you determine if you are dealing with imperial (inch) or metric (mm) hardware. These sets come in three different configurations:1) gauges mounted within a single board (for mounting on a wall in the workshop or hardware store),2) gauges connected to a common cable (most portable), and3) individual gauges stored in a case (professional machine-shop version).I’ve used all three versions of these sets over the years. This offering is of course the common-cable version and it is by far the easiest to take along with you to a worksite or to stash in your tool bag. Although a gauge like this can certainly speed-up the sorting of loose parts, I find these gauges to be especially useful for checking the quality of threads when I am assembling/repairing things around the house. For example, I recently installed some light fixtures on the stairway wall and was having trouble getting nuts onto the mounting bolts. With this gauge in my pocket, I climbed back up the ladder and checked the mounting bolts sticking out of the wall; I found that the threads were not cleanly cut on some of the mounting bolts (see red arrow in photo). Rather than continue to fight with the assembly (and possibly damage the bolts further), I used the knowledge of the bolt size/configuration (#6-32) to select the matching die from my Tap and Die set; I then chased the threads with that Die and “fixed” the bolt. This significantly reduced my time spent (and my frustration) atop the ladder. Bottom Line: This selection of 26 stainless steel gauge sizes ( #6 to 1/2” and 4mm to 12mm ) is good for most DIY Home-Improvement projects and is very economically priced.
