Needed to flare some break lines and had no experience. Watched some videos, picked up this flaring tool kit. and 30 minutes later had new flared break lines. Did a few practice runs to get the feel for the toll and after some adjustments to my technique, worked great for me. My error was not tightening enough and having a clean square cut. Those two errors on my part caused the flare to be improper and not clean. Cut nice square ends, properly seat the tubing and tighten down properly and the results where exactly what they should be. Breaklines are in, no leaks, and most importantly, my pickup stops when I hit the brakes.

This kit made replacing my brake lines much easier than expected. After watching some YouTube videos and making a couple test joints (double-flairs) I was able to replace all the brake lines in my truck in a couple hours. I found that the most important part is preparation of the cut tubing by filing it flat before making the flair. I used the copper-nickel alloy which bends and flairs much easier, especially important when working underneath a vehicle.

This kit works as advertised and did a great job of double flaring my brake lines. No leaks when assembled. This set is not professional grade, but definitely good enough for the occasional user. No complaints.

I needed this tool in the worst way to make a new end, flared on an old, German car to get it moving. Within an hour of receiving the tool I had the brake line repaired, installed & bled & I had never done this before. The 67 year old brake line was as hard as iron & it slipped through the clamp twice before I really cranked it down & finally got it to bend. The tool worked exactly as intended & is a common design. The 3/16" is by far the most common size for brake lines & 1/4" would be the next most common but those sizes are at the end of the clamp & should be in the middle.

Do not buy this product. It is absolute garbage. I bought this kit to put flares on copper tubing for an AC unit. The tubes that I needed to flare were 3/8 inch and a quarter inch. The 3/8 inch was questionable. The quarter inch tubing Would not grip in the fling to so when you try to put a flare on it, it would just slide out of the flaring ankle. I tried to tighten the wing nuts, a little more see if that would help and the wings broke right off the nut might as well be made at a peanut butter. 💩💩💩💩💩💩 This product is absolute garbage and Amazon should take it off the market.I would have given it zero stars if that was an option.

One of the lockdown bolts on the die stripped on the fourth flare. The tightening bar is small diameter & short, impossible to over tighten. I was able to find a bolt in my shop that matched the threads and allow me to finish the flare I was making. But I ordered a higher quality tool to finish the job. I don’t flare a lot of fittings, was hoping that I could get by with this tool. Maybe the threads in the tool I got were just a quality control failure, the rest of the tool seems OK. But it still cost me in the end.

Works great on the soft steel aftermarket lines. It was difficult to use on the factory steel lines as they were much harder steel. You really have to crank down the tightening screws and I had to go back and rework the flare. Also my factory lines were coated so you have to get that coating stuff off before you can patch into them. I managed to use a hand crimping tool for coax cable and I used the stripping function to pull the coating off. Overall the tool works well and it saved me a big repair bill.

I used this tool to make a brake line to connect my master cylinder to the proportioning valve. I don't know if it was me or the previous owner who damaged the 7/16 - 24 tube nut. The damaged thread made installing the brake line to the master cylinder difficult. The undamaged 3/16 - 24 tube nut went on in seconds. I bought a 3/16" brass tube from a hobby shop and placed one end in the tool. There were no instructions to indicate how much of the tube should be above the tool. I tried two different heights with unuseable double flares. On my third attempt I got a nicely formed double flare. It fit perfectly on the tube nut. My fourth try also produced a nicely formed double flare. All I have to do now is bend the tube in the approximate shape of the existing brake line. After double flaring brass tubes, I bought a stainless steel tube with .028 wall thickness. I placed the stainless steel tube in the flaring bar and was able to make a nice double flare. I placed the other end of the tube in the flaring bar and turned the handle. This time there was no bubble. I removed the adapter and tried to flare the tube. There was no flare on the tube and the end of the tube was below the surface of the flaring bar. I removed the tube from the flaring bar and tried again. Same results. I discovered that the flaring bar was no longer holding the tube in place. It turns out the stainless steel tube wore down the threads that hold the tubes in place. This tool will not work with stainless steel more than one time.
