These work perfectly in my yard to deter the biting bugs. I use them for events and such outside so I am not using them daily, but when I set them out approximately an hour before people come over, they work perfectly all the way through the night and can be used again. The blue patches seem like one and done, but the fuel seems to be able to be used for two night time events when I set them out at 4pm and take them in before midnight. I would love to use them nightly, but the fuel and patches are a bit much so for what I use them for they work very well.

After realizing that this will only work for 4 hours at a time until the cartridge needs to be replaced and only contains 6 cartridges, I decided to return. But I learned that this item cannot be returned. Don't waste your money. Maybe this is good if you hardly go outside?

I was skeptical, as there is always a new thing claiming to be the latest in modern mosquito eradication (bug zappers, anyone?), but this actually seems to be the real deal. I have two about 25 feet apart and it seems to keep the entire patio clear of mosquitos, without any odor or fumes.

Being a native of Florida I can honestly say that this stuff actually works. Placing them around a seating area and waiting about 10 minutes. The area is protected from mosquitos and no-see-ums.

This takes just a little bit to start working on the mosquitoes. No more mosquitoes. Works great.

I am giving this product 5 stars for customer service. There is nothing in the product description indicating these will not work properly at altitudes in excess of 4000 feet. I live at an altitude of approximately 5000 feet and these units would not stay lit. When I contacted Thermacell they explained the altitude restriction to me and offered to send me a complimentary repeller that does not have this restriction. They have gone out or their way to make sure I am satisfied.Do your due diligence and make sure the mosquito repeller you want will work at your altitude.

This thing doesn’t help the mosquitos. Long term this thing will get pretty pricey with the refills and pads. It’s just not working. With it being on, I still get bitten constantly. Wish it would work!

Review of this itemI own these and two thermacell lanterns. The patio models are fine but I wish they were more heavy duty (4 stars instead of 5) You have to be careful pushing the plastic rods into hard soil since they're on the thin/weak side.Review of this technologyI was on the fence about this technology when I got the lanterns because we had mixed results (used twice camping). But after careful thought I figured out where I went wrong.1. Too large of a coverage area.As many have mentioned, effectiveness is impacted by wind. Their advertised coverage area may be true if you're in zero wind environment. To solve this you basically have to buy more devices and strategically lay them out.2. I started them up too late.I would highly suggest you get them going at least 30min before you want to be outside. If you have an adequate amount of thermacells per your coverage area then you need to allow them to run for about a half hour to build the barrier.3. High and lowIf you're going to be sitting at a patio table it may be prudent to put one on top of the table and underneath. The "clean" air pocket underneath your table will be a mosquito safe haven if you only have one on top of the table. They will feast on any legs/feet that are available.Obviously the first two points equate to these devices being severely overpriced. However, there are a couple tips I could share:1. Shop around and look best deals. Consider buying 12hr pads instead of 4hr pads.2. Look for ways to mitigate the effects of wind. Just like you would for a campfire. You could use your vehicle or the wall of your home to "trap" the repellent if the wind blows in a particular direction. You may be able to get away with buying fewer thermacell devices. This review is based on my experiences camping. By implementing the steps above I have been able to enjoy a bug spray free labor day weekend at Anastasia State Park in St. Augustine FL 2020. I have two of the patio models and two lantern models. I put them at the four corners of our tent site. I also parked the vehicle on the far side of the square shaped site so minimal product will be lost if the wind blows in that direction. I took a chance by not lathering up in the usual DEET but my theories proved correct. Not a single bite! I believe when using these products like I've mentioned they easily beat out the traditional citronella candles. There is a slight smell with thermacell but no where near as strong as citronella.
