About this item

  • Brilliant Red Blooms - One of summer’s most radiant flowers, delicate and vivid red poppies evoke feelings of remembrance and joy.
  • Packet Contents - Each 1 Gram packet contains approximately 5000 premium, open pollinated, non-GMO, flower seeds. (See photos on this page of packet and contents.)
  • Freshly Packed - These seeds are packed for the current growing season and will provide high germination rates next year as well.
  • Flowers Your Way - Poppies work well planted with other flower varieties in mixed wildflower gardens; or planted separately to create a field of bright, crimson red.
  • Premium Packaging - All seeds from The Old Farmer’s Almanac are packaged in individually styled packets ideal for gifts, storage or immediate use. Each packet displays the flower, vegetable, plant or herb variety on the front with instructions and plant facts on the back.

American Legion Corn Poppies are easy to grow from seed and can be sown outdoors in the early spring or late fall. They prefer rich soil that is slightly moist; but well drained. To increase visibility during sowing, mix 1 part seeds with 5 parts sand. Broadcast the resulting blend over your planting area; and gently rake it in before tamping down to ensure good contact with the soil. Poppies will thrive in full sun; but don’t like high humidity or intense summer heat. Water occasionally. Harvest Corn Poppies when the flowers have just opened. For best results, gently strip foliage that will fall below the vase's water level. Deadhead faded blossoms to encourage additional growth. If blooms are left on, poppies will often self-sow for future seasons.

Planted these exactly as stated and not a single seedling came up. Very disappointed

I love Flanders poppies. These flowers are so delicate and come up almost as if they're shy. They threw a lot of beautiful blooms.

Appears seeds have germinated. Fine plant growth. The seeds are so fine mixed with clean sand at about 5:1 ratio, still seem to have some seedling clumping.

They germinated but that’s about it , they never flowered into anything. I got the green stems and a little leafs but that’s it, nothing more , no flowers nothing and now they are wilted.

I had success with these seeds and grew several of them in front of my house 🥰 They were beautiful! I started late but I’m excited to try again next spring with what I have left. These grow wild in Palestine. I think I’ll grow them every year in honor of all the beautiful souls this planet has lost in the past year. Now it represents more to me than remembering our veterans.. the meaning has deepened. Free Palestine. Freedom for all ❤️
