Headway's "The Band" further cuts feedback, bowing noise, body noise and excessive treble by acoustic filter. The unique "Band" speeds sound checks and minimises cluttersome and unreliable equipment needed to set up and transport but most importantly, it offers increased headroom (volume) before feedback, enabling problem free monitoring at modest to high volumes. Headway pickups are currently in use by many professional musicians including Peter Knight (Steeleye Span), Tom Leary (Feast of Fiddles) and Crystal (Canadian Nashville Session Musician).

This pickup is magical! It gives out a better signal than another company's bridge-mounted piezzo pickup, and I did not need a pre-amp! I just hooked up 1/4" male to 1/4" male cable to the DI box from there to the mixer and it sounded awesome and loud! On the downside, it is tricky to get the sensors flush against the instrument (luckily the middle part stays flush while the ends tend not to be) and I'm uncertain how long this velcro will hold. But so far, the sound is unbelievably good.

the adhesive for the velcro really *sucks* - peels off immediately, even when trying to strap the cord to the shoulder rest to reduce the amount of weight/pressure pulling at the velcro. ultimately, not happy with the construction, happy with the sound.

It was difficult to connect the pickup band tightly to the viola. The band itself was folded too strong. This caused bends in the band (strap) that wouldn't straighten, and therefore the band doesn't connect well to the viola body. As a result the sound is not good enough.

Mostly I use this in a church setting, playing in a contemporary band. The placement of the transducers will vary the sound that you get - which is an incredible benefit for tone variation for different songs. The Band does not need to move great distances for any tone variation - no big thing to change the tone.Perfect would be a mini-XLR output, and including a cable with mini-xlr to regular xlr connector. The best Pro is that I did not have to any alterations to the viola and there is no attached mike to be wary of whilst playing.oh, and the audio guy is ecstatic about not hearing other instruments thru my pickups. The Band is an incredible addition to my kit..

This is the best pickup for viola/violin/cello I've worked with. Great, even tone and the convenience of using a real 1/4 cable rather than one of those stupid 1/8 jacks on most violin/viola pickups. Especially nice running through a nice amp, but a DI box does it just fine.
