I got this set of mortar and pestle after reading others’ reviews. This is indeed useful to have. I used them for grinding chili peppers. I used them for grinding pine nuts and basil leaves for making pesto. It is a little too small for processing a big batch but works fine for grinding spices. It is sturdy. There is a liner on the bottom of the mortar so that it gets good traction. I like the gray black marble pattern of mortar and pestle. There is a coating on the external side of mortar so it is scratch resistant.

Great look and doesn’t break easily as I’ve dropped it multiple times on accident still have mine and love it

This is much heavier and larger than I thought. It's good quality, sturdy and works well. But it is a bit hard to use do to the size and weight. Texture is smooth, but this is more for larger ingredients.

What I love about this mortar/pestle:Everything! Size (inside depth & width), weight (stays in place during use), durability (what it's made of), size (fits in my hand comfortably), color (coordinates with my kitchen).I used to have a set that was made of a lesser quality & the pestle broke. This was my replacement. I like it a lot.Make sure you hand wash if you purchase. It cleanser up fast & easy.

I really like the color and the quality of this mortar and pestle. I haven’t used it since it’s a birthday present for a dear friend. He enjoys cooking and creating dishes, so I really feel like he’s going to appreciate the durability of this product. It was a great value for the money.

This is a good, heavy mortar and pestle. Outside of the bowl measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter, inner edge is 4 1/4 inches diameter. I use it for grating dried herbs and eggshells, and it works well. Remember to "season" it first so you don't get little pieces of it in your food.

This mortar works great. I use it from time to time while cooking. Overall build quality is very nice. I can tell I’ll be using this for a long time based on how well it’s constructed. Great product.

I spend lots of time in the kitchen and love to cook from scratch. This set is a solid, beautiful and expensive looking piece of equipment- it upgrades my kitchen. It’s functionality even better. Just the perfect size, I can now crush my garlic or ginger or spices. I simply rinse it in warm water and leave it to drip dry

*Edit to update after use*Worked wonderfully and cleaned up very well considering I had smashed garlic cloves, fresh basil, and chile powder into it. I then added hot olive oil directly into it to "fry." What a wonderful aroma that didn't get stuck to the tool. I can imagine after more uses it will take more effort to keep it fresh, but it cleaned right up with a bit of soap and a rinse. Nothing special needed even with staining and smelly spices :D------------------------------I haven't actually used it yet. I wasn't sure how to rate it on the "easy to clean" rating. It is as easy to clean as I think is possible considering its use. It has a rough surface inside and on the end of the pestle (necessary for optimal grind and smoosh) which will likely need a little more attention when cleaning, but relative to its function I don't think it could have been designed in a way that made it easier to clean. I am currently awaiting my peppers to grow and ripen before putting this to its full potential. Going to do some garlic in it tonight with dinner. As I said, I haven't used it yet, but its obviously a fine example of what I wanted and a good sturdy utensil. I believe I will use a diluted dawn and vinegar solution as a short soak on the rough sides for removing smell and flavor when using pungent spices.
