This is a very basic water quality meter that only measures the amount of dissolved solids in the water. But it will provide a good starting point of reference if you are concerned about the quality of the water you are using in your home. If you have a filtration system, it can also help you compare filtered versus unfiltered water and show whether your filtration system is actually doing anything. Very simple and easy to use and accurate. For only $9.99 you can't ask for more.

It works right out of the box. I compared it to my old TDS meter and it was only 2 different. That said, for the price its a steal. The temp is a nice addition. But the meter is easy to read and easy to use.

This review is for the KALWNIA TDS Meter Digital Water Tester. The product includes the tester, battery, and instructions. The tester is ready to use out of the box. The instructions are clear and concise.I tested this product using tap water with a known TDS (total dissolved solids) value. The reading from this meter was within +-2 ppm of the actual value, and it was within +-2 over several checks. Based on my testing, this tester appears to be accurate, consistent, and very easy to use.

I tested this meter with distilled water, tap water, and then added small amounts of NaCl, CaCl, and sucrose individually to samples to test. The meter does well with ionic dissolved solids, but I saw no response with sucrose. Total dissolved solids (TDS) is defined as "a measure of the amount of dissolved substances in water, including salts, minerals, metals, and organic matter."This meter probably works by measuring conductivity, which will detect ionic matter, but not nonionic organic matter like sucrose. Since most homeowners are mostly interested in hard water ions (Ca++, Fe+++, Mg++) or nitrate or sodium chloride levels, this meter should be entirely adequate for their use, and I recommend it on that basis. You literally can't beat it for the price.

Tested it with distilled water and it registered zeros, as it should.Testing my tap water returned results consistent with my city water report, so I'm assuming this meter is accurate.Which is all you could really ask of a device like this.

What I was looking for. Works well. I use it to make sure my water filter is working

We have never used a water tester before, but after installing a reverse osmosis water filter system, we wanted to give it a try. This device registers a distinct difference in TDS between tap and filtered water. The readings line up with what is promised by the filter system, so we are happy with both devices.
