These speakers are exactly what I needed for my bedroom studio. The sound is pristine. They're quite directional, so you'll want to be sitting in the sweet spot. They automatically power down when there's no incoming signal for a few minutes, so when you start your DAW (or YouTube video, or whatever) there will be a couple of seconds of silence while the speakers "wake up," but a red/green LED on the front will tell you if the speaker is active or not, so this automatic switching is very easy to get used to.

Unambiguous clarity. I am no audiophiles but this speaker shocked me. Listening to music becomes a new discovery process. Totally worth the money. I recommend you to get a pair. Amazon delivered them separately but one doesn’t even come close to a pair. I think a pair of these is close to the sound quality of those B&Os or Dynaudio in their low to mid-4-digit price range. Plus these Tannoy looks very good too people been asking me what are these lol. I have a 5.1 Bose soundtouch 300 set in my living room too and this Tannoy makes me want to return my Bose. It’s true that no high no low must be Bose lol but I initially spent close to $2500 on that Bose soundbar set so you know this pair of speaker is just amazing.

So I originally was going to go with the KRK ROKIT RP103 G4, but ultimately decided against it due to needing a true near field monitor given my space constraints. The Tannoy Gold 7 is a 6.5" primary driver. Let's get the out of the way first. It's not a 7" driver! There are 5" and 8" versions if you look for them.The Gold 7 seems to really capture the fidelity of what can be done with a 2 way coaxial driver though. An 8" would be stretched too thin, and a 5" not thick enough. The 7 is where it's at. Specs say low 60hz range. The bass is tight and controlled to ~50hz with the 7. A subwoofer is not required for what you'll be using these for. These monitors are second to none when it comes to stereo imaging. Using them for mixdown recording as an A/B to your studio headphones is where we really see these shine. I did have one with a damaged voice coil due to shipping, but I blame Amazon/Shipping for that, not the manufacturer. i would not hesitate to get these. I run them with a Motu M2 interface. REALLY hard to get anywhere near this quality and depth of image without spending MULTIPLE the cost of these. They really hit above their weight class. Just don't over drive them on the input. They will happily play as loud as you should be comfortable with for a near field monitor given the correct gain staging. 5 out of 5.

Where were these in my long sound listening life!? These have blown away my separate components (triangle Antal speakers, primaluna amp/integrated). Albeit I have always been a near field listener so these studio monitors are probably just what i needed. When trying to fill a room with holographic sound, I would stay with the separate components. But for near field listening , which they are built for, these Tannoys are the bee’s knee’s! So clear, clean, detailed, deep, (do not really stretch too the sides very much), true tones (at least to my ears and knowledge), and non fatiguing. Just a joy as I’m hearing small, buried in the sound sounds! Like hearing a song for the first time. My input is uncompressed files on my computer thru either my astell kern kann cube or project s2 dac. In heaven.

I'm a Tannoy 'Dual Concentric' Fanboy. For my floor standers -- Cheviots -- AND for my desktop/streaming speakers -- Tannoy Gold 7. These Gold 7's are genuine near-field listening powerhouses. You might beat the sound by a little -- Neumann KH120 -- but you will pay a LOT more. Dual concentric is the key to these babies -- a unified, single point source with lots of dynamics and "lift." Not fatiguing like many brutally-honest near field monitors. No disjointed sound or phase problems. Dead accurate, 3D soundstage. Easy to position and easy to dial in. (Use isoAcoustic stands for improvement on a desktop.) My set up is: iMac/Roon/Qobuz/PSAudio Stellar Gain Cell DAC-Preamp-headamp and Mogami XLRs to the Gold 7's. Killer setup for the money. Absolute dead-black quiet. (Sounds better than my Sennheiser HD600 headphones, and THAT'S a big compliment coming from me.) Yes, I can now tell the difference streaming FLAC 192/24 vs. DSD 64. Trust me -- my buddy and I both aced a blind A/B test. PS: These speakers are also killer as a TV soundbar -- through a Parasound zDac v2. Did I mention how cool they look? Not like those other sterile/robot monitors.

I bought a pair of these speakers to replace my Mackie MR624s which developed a hum that wasn't ground loop related. I also have a pair of JBL LSR 305s which the Mackies replaced because of an annoying hiss. I also tried a pair of Fluid Audio fx80s but they were noisier than the JBL 305s. These speakers are dead quiet. If I put my ear up to them I can barely hear a hiss sound. I'm not a professional and I bought these for a mixture of music listening and playing computer games. Compared to my old Mackie and JBLs these are in an entirely different league. The sound stage is unreal in my opinion. I'm hearing things I never did on my old speakers. In games and music. It's almost like I can reach out and point out the different sounds or instruments. It's hard to describe. I'm really happy with these speakers.
