The only positive was that this shelving unit arrived earlier that expected. The pieces were all there but full of small bits of the styrofoam it was packed in. The assembly instructions were of no help at all. My husband is handy but he even had a hard time putting this unit together. I would not have been able to do it myself. Once together it looks nice enough and will be sturdy enough for what I need. I do have this sitting in my sewing room on a berber-type carpet and it is not unsteady.

I've assembled shelves like this before. And they hold a lot of heavy stuff. It's not really too hard to put together. But, yes, it can be a bit wobbly at first, depending on how you start. Yes, be careful or you can slice a finger. It's sheet metal... My advice, put the bottom and top together first. Set the base against a wall. Assemble the long corner pieces and connect each to the base, then attach the top. Leaning them against a wall makes it easy to do by yourself.The shelves are better than average press board and simple to slip into the frame.Like most projects, I recommend that you don't tighten everything completely until you're done, and don't install the little black caps on the top until you install the top shelf board. That makes it easier to slip the top board into the frame.Also, watch out that when you install "tab A" into "slot B" that the tab is actually in the slot. If it's not and you whack it with your rubber mallet, if you don't manage to snap the tab off, you'll have to pry the pieces apart to fix it and insure frame stability. Overall, I like the product.

I have a side baking business and had a closet with stacks and stack of supplies and tools. Every time I needed one thing I would either have to unbury it or risk an avalanche. Then enters this shelf. It was pretty easy to assemble after some trial and error with the metal tabs. You must have a rubber mallet and the ability to make a lot of noise during assembly. The shelf fit perfectly in my closet and is very sturdy once it is completely put together! Now I can see all of my supplies and access them with ease. I even had some extra space to declutter another closet.

This is good, sturdy, strong utility shelving which I have no doubt will have a long "shelf" life. The good thing is that it is not difficult to put together, but the not so great thing is that the instructions that come with it (no words, just pictures), were put together by children. Obviously. How cute!! If you stay with it, you can figure it out. But any one of us could put together a far more user friendly set of instructions that would make the job a lot easier and more pleasant. Instructions that are not intuitive for those who are not easily versed in putting stuff together could get very frustrated. Do a better job, please, with your instructions. You might want to consider that your product is really only as good as the instructions are to put it together to use. I didn't have much trouble, so I am ordering another one, secure in the knowledge that I now know how to put it together without hesitation.

This is still a good value. I would give this a five star but the little black triangle caps that go on the top and the bottom ends (see picture) kept breaking when we were lightly tapping them into place.As it is, the top ones don’t really need it because it looks fine with the board there.I may get this same exact shelf to go on the other side of the bed.Good value, but the ends caps break easy.Very sturdy and easy to put together. I am pleased with purchase.

This shelf was very easy to assemble and it is very sturdy. Everything slides into place without the use of screws. Fantastic engineering! The only negative is when building the shelf as a single tall unit, the upper side rails are not permanently affixed (the connector slides into/not screwed in), therefore if you attempt to move it by lifting it above where the top and bottom are connected, the upper shelves will be disconnected. I learned this the hard way b/c I assembled it the decided to move it. If you remember to move it by grasping the lower half only, this can be avoided. I realize this may be confusing, but it will be clear once you purchase and assemble the shelf. Overall a great, sturdy shelf for the price!

I bought two. I put one together fairly easily, but with a little frustration due to the instructions being unclear. You'll have to figure out a little bit on your own using pictures that have no words.First off, the packaging they came in was barely adequate. Styrofoam was busted on both boxes, a few scratches on the metal frame paint and the board shelves.Secondly, this is press board. High quality, well made, press board. But it's wood particles glued together.Thirdly, it's sturdy once put together, and all the parts fit. Well almost: there are 8 plastic end caps for each of the taller parts of the metal frame. I could not get them to fit on the top ends when I had a shelf installed on the top installation point. It's not really important, but just FYI it's not going to go together like a machined piece of metal will.I holds my stuff up off the ground, gave my garage a more aesthetically pleasing look, and I got to throw a lot of cardboard boxes into the recycling.
