Tasteful pour over kettle with nice spout for even water distribution. Brings out coffee beans flavor, especially after a 30 sec bloom. Handle gets hot, but I rather have it in stainless steel than material which gives off odor. Good choice. I did extensive research, and tried several other brands (including Hario), this by far is my favorite.

The 0.5L is...only one half a liter. I should have thought about that is roughly the size of a large coffee mug. It is well designed, well made, and lovely. It is so small that the water cools off quickly between pours. I can recommend the larger size, which I wish I had ordered (even though I only make a single cup of coffee.)

Initial review - this thing is wonderfully made. It's NOT made in China, which is great. It appears to be very well made. I don't see anywhere for water to sit and cause issues. The kettle heats quickly enough. I only filled mine half way and was able to grab the handle and the knob on the lid bare handed. The pour was very nice. Easy to control from a dribble to an even pour. (Note that I used mine on a glass stovetop - can't account for induction or gas). It is smaller than I thought, but it works for single or double cups of coffee. You won't be serving a large crowd with it. But it's still perfect for me and my coffee needs. Will update later if needed.

I searched far and wide for a reliable gooseneck kettle. This is the only one I could find that was not made in China. This is made in Japan. The fit and finish are very clean. There are no seems inside that will hold onto ickies. The spot welds seem a little light, so time will tell on those. There is no sputtering from the spout when water boils and it pours smoothly and accurately.

did my research before getting this, this probably has the best spout of all the coffee drip pots out there, excellent control( from single drips to a slow pour). Excellent build and finish, cover will not fall out when attached, but also often confusing to remove(need to find the dimple). Only down side is the price but well its a quality product from Japan.

This is an essential tool for a person serious about pourover coffee. I use it to make one cup of coffee, but it can be used for a double, which many have wondered about. Two things: if you heat water in it (which you should) the handle will get very hot. You will have to wear a glove! Second, there is one small hole on the lid. Gauging temperature will be hard, but, again, necessary, so you must acquire a probe that fits that hole. I got one. I watch it closely and allow it to vent. It works!Easy to wipe down/off.

No doubt this kettle is incredible to look at, but I took off a star for convenience. I have to use an oven mitt to take the lid off when measuring the water temp (during my pretentious coffee brewing process haha), because the top knob gets quite hot. I can only get away with gripping the lid knob with my bare fingers for just a few seconds (I'm weak and delicate, I know). My criticism is a nitpicky thing, but a kettle for this price better be near perfect. Good news though: the handle does not get as hot as long as you keep the kettle bottom centered on the burner, so no need for oven mitt there. In addition, the kettle pours perfectly, and I can easily make pour-over coffee like a pro.So if your hands are more rugged than mine, this is the perfect gooseneck kettle. And despite the minor inconvenience, I am very much happy with my purchase.

The workmanship is great and precise. The design is functional and well thought out. I like the all stainless design - and the fine polished finish. The lid will not fall out when you tilt the pot to pour - no hot water is spilling out throug the gap of the lid (remember to put the venting hole to the front). I dont really understand how this is possible - probably just very accurate fitting tolerances of the lid - but very nice! The bottom of the kettle is conical ! - only with a small contacting ring zone at the middle. At first I thought this was a design or manufacturing fault - bot now I think this is actually on purpose - in order to keep the handle relatively cool (away from the heating surface of the bottom). The downside is that the heating time on an electric stovetop is relatively long - 5minutes or more depending on filling. But I dont mind - in fact I like it - makes the brewing process more relaxed and meditative. The pour is beautifylly precise - I am very happy with the small Shizuko spout diameterOnly problem I had was an unpleasant metallic taste for the first several times I used it.I tried cleaning with Cafiza and numerous boils to clean it. Eventually the metallic taste disappeared - and the water now tastes good / neautral.I have no idea where the metal taste came from - perhaps residues from the polishing ? Anyway it turned out good.

Quite extraordinary pouring control. After using this, going back to the original Takahiro (which itself is fantastic) feels a real step down. Strongly recommended to all pour-over coffee aficionados.
