For the advertised wattage... I expected more volume / loudness.

We're very happy with these speakers. I have them set up for playing along with tracks on a drumset and they're plenty loud and clear for this application. They have great connectivity including bluetooth. Everything needed to hook them up is included. They compare very favorably to the Mackie monitors I was using before—they're louder and don't have the same problem (so far) with scratchy pots and the failing L/R switch as I've had on the Mackies. My 4" active Mackies only have 50W but the Sanyun monitors are much larger in all dimensions, and heavier as well. They have 80W so this could be explained by a larger amp. It's nice to have a remote.Note that you can't switch the sides; the powered one goes on the left only. These are in the same price range as the very highly rated Edifier monitors, and nearly as expensive as other brands like Yamaha, M-Audio, and PreSonus. I don't have direct experience with these other speakers but they have much better brand recognition and (probably) resale value. All I can say is I prefer the Sanyun to the Mackie CR-4.

First impressions: The sound is quite good and even, not lacking or overbearing in any of the frequencies. They have nice base for a 4" driver. The horn loaded tweeter is not overly bright like some can be, it matches the overall tone of the system. Because of the horn loaded tweeter, imaging is decent. At low to moderate listening levels the sound quality is great, no complaints. At a desk in an office you wouldn't need to go above the level where things become dicey. At elevated levels, I think the power supply starts to run out of steam, it sounds good but starts to fumble the bass a bit. With that said, they do play with plenty of volume for a standard family room. The bass and treble controls make a difference, but not as much as you would expect them to have. But they are effective enough and even at 100% boost never make the speakers sound bad.The remote is a radio frequency transmitter, very nice. You don't have to have line of sight or even point it at the speakers, it just works no matter what, even in the next room. The speakers come very well packaged, and fit and finish is the best I have seen for a speaker at this price point. Mine came blemish free. The woofers could have been centered in the openings a bit better, but it's not something you really notice, they are about 1mm down and to the right on both speakers.Hookups are enough for this speaker with an AUX, OPT and BT, and each work fine. I still wish the volume control was a standard potentiometer, I don't like not knowing where the volume control is pointing. I know this is the way a lot of them are these days, even my cars are that way. While writing this review, I am listening to Supertramp and Ten Years After and I have to say no matter what you throw at these, they are just pleasant to listen to.

This set of bookshelf speakers is being used in our play room area, hooked up to a projector via AUX cable. The setup gets extensive use for movie nights with our sons (and sometimes, their friends), and before this speaker, we had a Marshall speaker in its place, connected via Bluetooth. We have had some issues where the Marshall speaker likes to disconnect itself randomly while watching the movie, leading to the sound sometimes cutting out, so I was happy to move the Marshall speaker up to our living/dining room (it would replace a smaller JBL Flip speaker that we use there, mostly for music) and give this product a try in its place. So far, I have been satisfied with the setup. I wouldn't say the sound quality is the best in this price range (as a point of comparison, I like the sound from my Edifier bookshelf speakers, which are in this same price range, slightly better), but that could also be more personal preference, and this speaker is not shabby in its quality by any means. It is certainly more than good enough for our play room setup for the kids, and the sound quality is a definite upgrade over just getting the sound from the projector (which is the end result when the Marshall gets disconnected).I was also very happy to see that the product already comes with a set of AUX and Optical cables; I thought that was a nice, detailed touch. I was able to use the included AUX cable to test the setup with the projector right away, and everything went as smoothly as I expected and worked perfectly. The fact that this also comes with a remote is also an underrated aspect of what makes this setup more convenient for me; the Marshall speaker did not come with such a luxury, and I had to walk up to the speaker each time to try and reconnect (or do things like adjusting the volume or source).I also did test out the Bluetooth functionality with my iPhone, and things went very smoothly there as well. From a design perspective, I really liked the white color, as it goes along well with the surroundings of the play room (the Marshall speaker was also of the white variety, maybe slightly more cream). The speakers come off as clean and simple sitting on one of the built-in shelves in the room.Overall, I would recommend this product!
