After losing her crochet hook for the nth time I decided to get my mom a second set of crochet hooks so she'd have some spares on hand. Susan Bates is her preferred brand and these are great. The colors are brighter too which makes them very easy to spot when they start to wander.

Susan Bates crochet hooks are the best. That's why I keep ordering them. This package has the most commonly used sizes and I give them to my new students. Strongly recommend.

I love Susan Bates aluminum inline hooks! I wish they didn't discontinue this style with the bamboo handle, but there are plenty of foam handles you can buy separately to slide onto this style. They are strong, lightweight, color coded with sizes on each individual hook. They have great hook depth so yarn doesn't slip off easily, and a pointy tip to help slip into those extra tight stitches.

These are by far the best crochet hooks on the market that are affordable. I know there are hooks out there that cost upwards of 30-40 dollars for a package and I’m sure they’re wonderful but these cost me just over 8 bucks and they’re WONDERFUL. Susan Bates every time.

Absolutamente recomendables.

I recently got back into knitting and crocheting after not doing it for about 10 years. I no longer had a hook so I thought I’d look for a cheap set to test the waters and see how I liked it again. At first I ordered a Boye set. They arrived and I wasn’t impressed. The hooks were twisted and they weren’t polished off very smooth and just were difficult to work with. I got my refund for those and decided to try these and man is there a world of difference! These are smooth and comfortable to hold and I am not struggling to get the hook through the yarn. One thing that I wish I could change is the length. They are a bit shorter than the boye hooks so I do with they were a bit longer. Another thing is that when they arrived they had small spots on them where it looked like they had been rubbed and the color came off. That didn’t bother me too much especially since when I opened my door to get my package they had sent me two when I only paid for one. I think a lot of the reviews are from advanced crocheters who know what they like and how they like a hook to preform. That is perfect. As a beginner, it’s all about finding what you like. For me, boye was TERRIBLE. For someone else they may be amazing. My suggestion is to get a few hooks in different brands and see which one you like the best and then buy a set of them. I hope the review helps other beginners find their hook. Happy hooking!

I have gotten many crocheting hooks in the past decade. These were my first, and they are still my choice hooks! I find the shape is the most efficient at ‘hooking’ and the aluminum quality is perfect for every type of yarn. The colors are also convenient, I can tell which hook I need from a distance. Moreover, the colored version of this set does feel better with yarn vs the gray version (I own both) so if you aren’t sure, pick color!

These wonderful (and inexpensive!) hooks work perfectly for me. I am just beginning to get into crocheting, and I find working with these inline hooks very easy. They do not have rough edges and do not snag on the yarn like some of the plastic hooks I have used. They feel sturdy and well-made. It is hard to find inline aluminum hooks for such a good price!I am currently using one of these to make a chevron blanket for my daughter, and it has been great to work with. Feels good in my hand, easy to hold comfortably, and the blanket comes together quickly while I am working on it. The size range provided has given me the hooks I need to be able to make all of my beginner level projects. I am very happy with this purchase.

These are like the original Susan Bates hooks with the pointier top and the deep throat. These hooks do not have a tendency to split the yarn and I don't have nearly as many slipped stitches with these as I do with Boye hooks. I have been crocheting for over 40 years and have used several different brands and types of crochet hooks without really paying attention; until now. I purchased a set of ergonomic hooks for my granddaughter, but the hook part was a disappointment. It was difficult to get the hook into some of the tighter stitches and she was frustrated with some of her stitches slipping off and having to remove all the current stitch and start it again. I had her try one of these Susan Bates Silvalume hooks, I had just got them in, and wanted to see if it helped her. She had been excited about the "new style" of crochet hooks instead of using the "granny hooks" as she called them, until she actually started using them. The glamour faded quickly. She now won't use those and is always using my Susan Bates hooks. The throat on these hooks is nice and deep without being difficult to work with and the neck is straight rather than tapered. I personally find it's easier for me to maintain gauge with an inline hook. My speed when working with these hooks is a lot faster; I'm not having to redo as many stitches or trying to work the hook into a stitch with a round head. I have heard that Susan Bates redesigned these hooks a couple years back but returned to this design when their customer base protested loudly at the inferior product. I'm certainly glad they did. If you are looking to purchase a set of Susan Bates hooks, be sure to look closely at the top of the hook and make sure it's pointy shaped so you don't wind up with some of those horrid unpopular hooks they produced a couple years ago. I had read that the "old" good hooks were getting hard to find, but I lucked out and found these on Amazon and snagged them right away. Maybe they're not so hard to find anymore since they went back to the old design, but I feel fortunate that I was able to get a set of the better hooks. The set contains F,G,H,I J and K size hooks. I am going to purchase one additional hook, the 7mm, to complete my set. I think those are the ones I use most of the time. They come in a plastic pouch which is great for storing them in and the pouch lists the sizes on the front in both letters and mm. The hooks I received were all smooth with absolutely no jagged edges. I've seen in other reviews where people were complaining about getting some really rough hooks, but it looks like most of them were a couple years ago and were probably getting the redesigned hooks. I'm really happy with my new set of Susan Bates Silvalume Crochet hooks and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another set.
