Wow! Finally a mallet for frosted crystal bowls that doesn't make that annoying rubbing sound on the frosted bowl. I've tried other similar rubber mallets, but this is the best so far. Plus I can gently strike/ring it as well as "sing" it. Great mallet!

Great quality for the price! This silicone mallet plays as smoothly as the higher priced ($50-75) mallets I have used on crystal bowls. The difference between this acrylic handle and the more expensive crystal/glass handle mallets is the over all weight. The glass mallets are heavier which is helpful when playing larger crystal bowls. IMO these work well for bowls up to 12 inches at least.

This is a complete revision of my previous review. The first mallot arrived with dark black flecks on the bottom which couldn’t be washed so I returned it and decided not to ask for a replacement as I was so disappointed and had looked forward to using it on a new set of crystal singing bowls. After of waiting for the UPS store to open over the weekend I had a change of heart after realizing what happened was not the seller’s fault, it was a warehouse issue and the mallot never should have been shipped in that condition. I cancelled the return and asked for a replacement instead and I’m glad I did because the replacement is perfect (even without a muslin carry bag) and works better than either of the mallets that came with my bowl set. I find it easier to use because the end shape is soft and perfect for the first little thump on the side of the bowl to activate it. The mallet head sits closer to the bowl which for me makes it easier to negotiate the circumference of the largest bowls with my right more coordinated side despite arm weakness from a neck and shoulder injury. Its a small difference, but it makes movement easier. I like the look of this mallet, the acrylic hand hold is attractive and a welcome addition to my set. Whatever you do, don’t pay more for this item, but anywhere from $13-15 is a fair price to pay.

I wanted to try something different so when I saw this singing bowl striker I ordered it to try.The dowel is made of acrylic according to the listing and on opening it does look and feel like acrylic which is ideal because it will last a long time with proper care. Later in the listing is states the dowel is made out of crystal but I would be surprised if it was.The silicone is thick and appears to be a higher quality so hopefully it will also last a long time. It feels nice to touch and adds depth to the tone of the sounds produced.The weight of the mallet is just right and I felt comfortable quickly with it.I definitely am happy with this singing bowl mallet and would recommend it as a gift or for any meditation/music enthusiast.
