I got these spoons for my daughter, for a gift, and she loved them. They are fairly decent quality- not professional grade, but good enough to play around with. Sound is pretty good.I think they make a great gift for someone who likes to experiment with different instruments.

First off, I do not know why they use pictures of toddlers and little kids to advertise these musical spoons. These are potentially adult and semi-pro instruments, and can be used by serious percussionists or jam instruments... I know this because I will play them in acoustic jam settings, and even in the POPs Orchestra that I am a member of. The quality is much better than junkie made, but albeit less than high end crafted wood worked pieces. They are more than adequate for an average player. The metal spoons do sound a little clangy being the metal is not particularly tempered... but, they actually play well. You can also bend them for a little more custom feel. I mostly got these for the attached wood spoons. They are just okay, but take a little effort to play. I like to vary the strikes, and also let the spoons ripple down my fingers for that roll sound, but these are not very flexible to do that, and the wood is a little thick. I might sand them down some to see it it helps. They are also spaced kind of far apart, so I have to strike them harder than I like to get a regular beat going. I know, none of this will matter to what looks like their target audience, children... but again, in my opinion these are not just kid's toys... come on, who would buy $20+ dollar spoons for their little little kids?
