If you need to clean the supply line threads due to corrosion or make that outside spigot take a garden hose easily, this is what you need. I recommend also using "Tap-Magic" cutting fluid for heavily corroded threads.

Works good at chasing threads. Just take your time! Keep backing out to clean out shavings. Can’t chase threads in one shot!

Bought a home and it came with a gaulded spigot. As a Machinist I thought about making my own Die but didn't have the tap and didn't feel like threading my own on the lathe. So I bought this next day delivery. Took 5 minutes to do including grabbing the 3/8 rachet, and a squirt of penetrative oil for lube, doing the actual rethreading part. Now I've got a usable spigot again. And don't have to shut off the water and change the spigot. Its definitely worth the $20 dollars to save you the extra labor of replacing

I have been dealing with a leaky outdoor faucet for a few years. It is tough to get a plumber in our area for a small job, plus it is expensive. I found this product and decided to give it a try. Schzam, it worked! It took some horsepower to correct the faucet groves, but this product powered through. Now, not a drop from the outdoor faucet. My guess is I saved a couple of Ben Franklins, so it was well worth the investment.

I was able to use this to successfully to re-thread an exterior faucet that was stripped. May need to use a bar vice a socket wrench as you get deeper into the cut. Repaired the faucet so no replacement required. Highly recommend.

Kind of expensive for what it is, works well, got me out of a jamb

Was delivered on time. Unfortunately my issue on my exterior valve was not the thread so I had to return it without any problem.

I don’t write reviews for products unless they truly work well. Saying that, this product worked well and saved me a butt load of money. The people who owned my house before me put plumber putty, primer and some sort of sealant on the spigot in my yard. Needless to say, no tools fit on the threads and I actually thought the threads were damaged. I figure I’d give this product a try, because $20 is cheaper than a couple hundred dollar job. As soon as I got it in the mail, I attached it to a ratchet wrench and worked it on and off the spigot 4-5 times. the threads actually shined afterwards. I did have to put a lot of elbow grease into it, probably because of all the product that was put on the threads before hand. Anyways all my tools fit on the spigot and there are no leaks. Saved me tons of money and aggravation!

I was so skeptical this would work and was ready to make a return if this failed, but it worked wonders for me! What usually took me 5mins to screw my hose plus excessive water leakage, ended up being 15 seconds of screwing the hose with no leak! If you are looking to replace your hose bib because of calcified threads, save yourself the hassle and buy this one instead. Highly recommended to use a 3/8 ratchet as it will be progressively harder to turn getting into the deeper threads. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I left my garden hose connected to the spigot over the winter. Come spring time I discovered a significant leak/spray coming from the threads. I was going to replace the spigot until I learned of this device. As others have stated, it "cleans" threads by cutting off corrosion/debris that you can't remove using a steel brush alone. The proof is in the metal "dust" that gets removed. You will need a ratchet/wrench in order to have enough leverage to thread the cleaning tool far enough to be effective. Elbow grease is not enough. It was very satisfying seeing how quick and easy it was to repair the leak. True, it might seem pricey for what seems to be nothing more than a glorified nut. However, it's a bargain considering the time/money you save from unnecessarily replacing the entire spigot. BUY THIS.

Screwed up the threads on both my hose bibbs by forcing the removal of those damn backflow preventers, and now I can't get a hose to connect properly. Went to the hardware store to try and find a tool similar to this in the hopes of a quick, easy fix. No luck. Walked out with two new Hose Bibbs instead, hoping I got the right ones. Can't tell if my current ones are threaded on or soldered on.Came here to Amazon and found this tool. Ordered it and received it the next day with free prime shipping, though the price of the tool was more two days ago than I see it is now. I think Amazon hikes up a product's price when Prime shipping is involved, giving the buyer the impression they're getting a good deal. Getting it next day though, made it worth it to me and it was still cheaper than the two hose bibbs.Anyway, amazing how the proper tool can make some tasks super easy. Got the tool started and tightened it up as far as I could by hand and then applied the 3/8 socket drive and tightened it until it was completely on. Not much force was needed and it got easier once I was past the damaged threads. Backed it off and that was it. Refreshed threads that my quick connect and hose can now easily screw onto. Wow, that was simple. Now I kind of wish my friends or neighbors have the same issue so I can help them out. Hate buying a tool that I may get to use only once. I'll be returning the new hose bibbs to the hardware store tomorrow. Thanks for the tool. Great product.

Great tool. Excellent valve vs. the cost of having a plumber replace the fixtures.Essentially a thread die with a closed end for use with a 3/8" drive ratchet. The tool is square so you could also use it with an open ended wrench or crescent wrench if you don't have a ratchet available. You will need either (ratchet or wrench) to use this tool as most people won't have the hand strength to apply the force required to turn it.Very simple to use with very little skill required. If the tap isn't attached to the wall like mine is, I suggest holding the faucet with one hand while turning the tool/ratchet with the other. Make sure to tighten the tool then loosen it in small increments as the teeth re-cut the threads and repeat until the threads become recessed in the tool. Unscrew the tool, wipe or blow off the cuttings and your faucet is as good as new.I've always had issues threading hoses or "quick connects" all the way onto the faucet so they would always leak at the connection. After a few minutes on each faucet using this tool the problem was solved.

I had a garden Bibb that was pretty corroded and the threads where filled with stucco. Becuase of this it was pretty useless as all garden hoses that I attempted to connect to it leaked badly. I was quoted several hundred dollars by a plumper in my area to have the Bibb replaced. I knew the issue was just the threads so I did some research and found Mr. Thread Cleaner. To use the tool you simply screw it on to your damaged garden Bibb. You will needed to use a 3/8 ratchet and extension to torque it down properly until it bottoms out. Afterwards you unscrew the thread and examine the threads. You may have to repeat several times as I did depending on how severe the corrosion is.The tool worked wonders on my damaged garden Bibb. Unfortunately it still leaked a bit but that is of no fault of the tool (my garden Bibb was already damaged and corroded pretty badly). With the fixed threads however, the Bibb was somewhat useable, but I was able to stop the leaks completely with some pipe sealant tape and a quick release valve.Overall I am impressed with this tool as it saved me a few hundred dollars in repairs.
