We live a normally dry, mosquito free neighborhood and that all changed last year. All of the sudden mosquitos were driving us out of our backyard even during the day. It was insane!!! No idea where they were coming from until one day I was changing the solar light atop our privacy fence when I noticed my neighbors above ground pool was green and had tons of old leaves floating in it.. No one was living there and the pool water had not been filtered all summer. In desperation mode I purchased a pack of these and tossed them in the pool the day they arrived. I kid you not, we went from wearing bug spray and still getting bitten alive one day to a totally mosquito free environment a couple days later. These little discs had brought our family back out of the house.. Our pets are even safer now not worrying about mosquitos transferring heartworm or other bloodborne pathogens to them.. I may have to buy another pack for next season if the house remains vacant.

I’ve been using them in my backyard and they’ve made a noticeable difference. The mosquitoes have significantly decreased, which means we can enjoy being outside without constantly swatting them away. What I love most about Mosquito Dunks is how easy they are to use. Just drop them in standing water, and they start working almost immediately. They’re also safe for pets, wildlife, and plants, which gives me peace of mind. The only reason I’m giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that they need to be replaced every 30 days to maintain their effectiveness, which can add up over time. Additionally, they might take a few days to fully kick in, so patience is key.Overall, Mosquito Dunks are a reliable and environmentally friendly way to keep mosquitoes under control. If you’re looking for a safe and easy solution, these are definitely worth trying.

This is from my granules review but it is basically the same. These yiu can throw easier and the granules you spread or broadcastMy neighbor hasn't used his full to the top swimming pool in 15 years and minus sunk oak branches, squirrel skeletons, rodent skeletons and full blown duckweed coverage, this product helps to keep the biting bug levels down. The funny thing is that my wife runs into the house at a few mosquitos she sees but she apparently does not remember how bad it was years back. This is what prompted me to look for a bacillus thuringiensis israelensis containing peoduct and here it is!I use both the crumbled and the large pellet size which I break up and toss in this 24’4 foot deep swimming pool. Because of the huge amount of water I use a fertilizer broadcaster and hand spin or I should say the granulated product out and sometimes past the middle section. I can’t use any special instructions for this so I just put half a bag in and walk around the pool shooting it in and then I take what’s left and walk around his yard and mine just to make sure there’s no buckets or tires with standing water in it And I had to spend some of that into the water vessels.I do use the towels for the swimming pool and larger areas because I can break it into chunks and although I do code it with a nice skim of the granulated size parts, I do throw the big parts into because I really didn’t understand how the process worked getting this to propagate and spread to the mosquito larva to destroy them, even though I may not understand how it works, it sure puts a huge debt in the mosquito population which in my thought would be as bad as my travel to the Peruvian rainforest (my wife is from Lima Peru, and wanted to go there). This is a lightweight product as a basically a bunch of dry corn cob either loose or compressed into a pellet form. Pellet form is about 2 inches by almost an inch in size and it’s easy to break with your hands for smaller sections.I highly recommend this product. We’ve had great success with it and after reading a bunch of these wonderful reviews, I will now start to make some of the BTI tea Even though it seems that we have a pretty good control of gnats with our indoor plants. Please help me with a review like if I helped you in sone way and stay mosquito safe as that West Nile virus is back!Good luck!

The concept and execution are great. The problem is surface area. There's simply too much area around any house for mosquitos to lay eggs. That means, this stuff won't make a noticeable difference. They're probably effective near a five gallon bucket, but no more.

As a Texas homeowner with a backyard pond, I've struggled to control the mosquito problem on my property during the hot, humid summers. I was skeptical that anything could truly eliminate these relentless bloodsuckers, but Mosquito Dunks proved me wrong. I was amazed at how quickly Mosquito Dunks eliminated the mosquito larvae in my backyard pond. Within days, I noticed a huge reduction in the number of adult mosquitoes buzzing around. No more annoying bites while gardening or barbecuing! The dunks provide month-long mosquito control, so I only need to reapply occasionally. They don't harm my pond's ecosystem, so my fish and frogs are safe. And they cost a fraction of what I used to spend on citronella candles and bug zappers. Here is my list of pros and one con:Pros:- Extremely effective at killing mosquito larvae- Prevents new generations of mosquitoes from maturing- Long-lasting - one dunk treats pond for 30+ days- Safe for pets, plants, fish, and wildlife- Easy to use - just toss in water- Affordable and budget-friendlyCons:- Doesn't kill adult mosquitoes, only larvaeFor any homeowner battling a mosquito problem near standing water, I can't recommend Mosquito Dunks enough. It's a simple, safe, and effective solution. Just toss a dunk into your pond or fountain once a month and say goodbye to those bothersome bugs. I'm so glad I discovered this secret weapon - my family can finally enjoy mosquito-free time outdoors again! Hope this review helped!

We have a small water feature in our garden, so for the second year I am adding one of these periodically. They certainly do seem to keep the mosquito population under control. My only quibble would be the claim that one lasts for “30 days or more.” They absorb water and presently begin to break apart. Perhaps the active ingredient remains in the water even after that? Don’t really know, so once the dunk is entirely reduced to just floating debris, I scoop that out and add another. That means the six-piece card doesn’t equal a six-month supply. Possibly this is just my misunderstanding, however.
