The clamp, when torqued to suggested 25 ft lbs, stopped hitch rattle at all speeds up to continual 65 mph. It may have worked better on my hitch than some because of the hitch flat bottom with no welded lip . I have only about 140 miles on the clamp, with (an appropriate) 93 lb tongue weight. I bought this brand because it is USA manufactured. Chinese metalurgy has not been so dependable. My only concerns are longevity of the clamp in use: even the USA Stowaway brand has had some metal bending and breaking. Texting customer service was answered quickly. If you are considering this kind of anti-rattle clamp, recommended.

I had bought a Black Widow Motorcycle carrier that came with a Hitch Tightener, this has smaller nuts , smaller washers, uses a metric 18 nuts , but the StowAway uses a 3/4 nuts with larger and thicker washers, much stronger !!

I bought this to stabilize a tow hitch motorcycle carrier on the back of a 2015 Grand Cherokee. It works great! I went from being constantly worried my bike was going to fly away to almost forgetting it was there. This product was super easy to install, all I needed was 1 wrench! The package comes with minimal instructions, but that's really all you need.During the trip (about 3 hours round-trip), the nuts did not back out or loosen from what I could tell, none of the material deformed or did any damage to my tow hitch or carrier... it worked like a charm!9.5/10 wholeheartedly recommend!-0.5 because I feel like the threaded U-bolt should have eyelets for some cotter pins to prevent the nuts from falling off. Easy-ish to add afterward, but would be nice to have from the start. Again, this was a non-issue for my 3 hour trip, but I'll probably still add this feature for peace of mind :)

Desde el momento que lo he usado, el rack de bicicletas dejo de vibrar; solo lo he tenido que ajustar 1 vez. Muy recomendable si lo que buscas es reducir la vibración / ruido.

This tightener deserves more than 5 Stars! This is the very best lightener I have used. I have used lighter weight and strength lighteners, but this blows them out of the water.Installed properly with the instructions supplied, you will have years of use with no problems. Check the torque of the bolts, (as with any tow pre-check) before each trip. This tightener is awesome. I don’t understand the negative comments about this item. The plate is impossible to bend by tightening the U-bolt. The plate steel is .3” thick. The u-bolt is 2.5 inches wide. It would take several thousand pounds of force to bend the plate. When following the instructions properly, it recommends 40 foot-pounds of torque for the nuts. The 7/16” u-bolt will NOT rust. It would take several hundred foot pounds of torque to break/twist apart. As with any Stainless steel bolt or nut product, lubricate lightly before installation to eliminate seizing or galling. When using an equalizer hitch – mount the plate on top of the draw bar since that is where the equalizer exerts force on the receiver.

I purchase the StowAway Hitch Tightener to work with the CURT Cargo Carrier which I was ordering a the same time.(My vehicle - 2015 Chevy Tahoe - Factory tow package)This will be my first time ever using a cargo / trailer hitch so I really wasn't familiar with a lot of the terms and potential issues that were being talked about in reviews and Q&A.In on of the reviews a person recommended this hitch tightener. After installing the cargo basket I tried to wiggle and bounce the cargo basket and just like the review indicated there was a lot of play . . a lot more then I would want going across this country on Interstate 80 at 75mph.I installed this hitch tightener as instructed with no problem. I bounced tested it in my garage and also on the road . . . a dramatic improvement . . Very easy to install and also to take off when through with the cargo basket / or trailer.Very good heavy duty quality.PS - As you might have noticed from the picture I also bought and installed a locking hitch pin. With the cargo basket I bought being very light I felt it was very vulnerable to possible theft so that is the reason for the purchase. Keep in mind and you might see this that if a professional wants to steal your carrier or trailer they can . . A locking pin will stop the random theft, deter, delay or even draw attention to a theft in progress . .

This took about 5 minutes to install, I installed mine "upside down" with the threads pointing up so it did not reduce ground clearance.I'm using:2009 Honda Fit HatchU-Haul Hitch Class 1Yakima 5 bike rackThe tightener completely removed all the wobble due to a loose connection between receiver and rack.Keep in mind, that there still is a very slight wobble from the bike rack itself as it has several connection points where it's bolted together. This wobble is very minor compared to what happens if the hitch is loose.Overall, I would buy this again and would recommend it to everyone with this issue.

Skeptical at first but it works like a charm. I have a Smittybilt beaver step that weights a ton plugged into my hitch. Like all hitch accessories, it's a little loose. Going over bumps, the heavy beaver step would send a jolt through my car. The hitch tightener fixed that right up. Well made, quality parts and the beaver step is not rock solid in its hitch. If anything could be improved on the hitch tightener, I'd say the price, it's a little steep for a U-bolt and powder coated plate but works like a charm and great quality.

Great product, very effective, and high quality components. As a few others have noted, this is much higher quality components (metals used, grade of hardware, nice powdercoat finish, thickness of plate) than the cheap bar clamps at the hardware store. This won't rust and can take some serious torque on the nuts. Now my hitch is nice and quiet. Plus, it gives me about an extra 1/4" of ball height (due to the way it holds the draw bar up tight against the receiver). I need as much height as I can get as I'm towing with a Honda Accord.I'm using this on a 1 1/4" class 1 receiver so the threads are too long and drug a few times when I didn't angle enough climbing my steep driveway. No problem, I trimmed the extra ~1" off of each and it's a perfect fit.I love this so much that I just bought another to have as a spare in case I ever need to use a 2" higher class receiver. :-)
