This is very sturdy and works well as a clipboard. It holds less paper inside than I was expecting... so this is good from a perspective of being a little lighter, but it also is a limitation. It comes with two "pen holders" that I was unable to get to work.As long as you don't need to store more than 10-15 sheets of paper total inside it should work really well.Item Reviewed:Storage clipboardSold By: The Saunders StoreUPC: 044357290240

I got this for my wife to use in her house leaning business. It allows her to keep her worksheets and client information as well as a pen in the clipboard and also has the actually clipboard for use. She is enjoying it but says she is not sure how long it will last as it is already starting to not close well and she's only been using it for a few weeks.

My son needed a clipboard for doing school work at recess. The outside tables are created with holes to allow crumbs and liquids to fall through but not for writing. If the tables are full he needs to be able to write anywhere when out at recess. I love this as it allows him to carry everything contained: the papers and a pencil inside the clipboard. He then can write on a solid, smooth surface regardless of where he is. My 4th grade son was happy to receive this.

I think this product is just okay - will give a surface to write on and not a whole lot more. It's flimsy metal, the edges of the metal are not sharp, but they definitely are not smooth. Storage isn't very deep. If you just need a bare bones, no frills storage clipboard, this might be it

This Saunders storage clipboard is sturdy but thin. It’s only a half inch thick, but it perfectly fits a 50-page 8.5 x 11” tablet along with a pen or a pencil (but not both). The clipboard opens from the top, and there is a piano hinge along the bottom. At first I was having trouble getting the clipboard to open, until I realized it has a metal clip attached to a spring, and all you have to do is pull the clip up and out, and the clipboard opens easily. But since it holds so tight, you don’t have to worry about the clipboard popping open and your papers falling out! The top clip that holds papers on the outside of the clipboard has a metal tab that swings up for you to press on to put papers underneath or take them out. The tab folds down out of the way when you’re not using it. This clipboard is nice and compact if you want to store papers and have something to write on while not taking up much space in your briefcase or laptop bag.

I like drawing against my knee, so I wanted something stiff to hold my paper in place, but I find lap desks unwieldy. So while I was looking, I ran across the Saunders Storage clipboard, so I ordered it, although I admit I haven't used a clipboard in many years. It arrived in a very basic box with no printing on it, and inside is the clipboard and nothing else. Mine arrived in pristine condition with no dents or scratches; it had no smell of any kind. It's stiff and lightweight.I read the currently only review that gave it 3 stars and said it wasn't big enough. The listing clearly states it's for 8 1/2 by 11 sheets, and I found it easily fit that size of paper with room for over 20 sheets of standard printer paper with no problem. I tried putting our recent HOA documents in it, and all 20 pages fit with a little room to spare. It won't fit legal size documents or larger paper, but it works well for regular sized paper. If you're an artist, here's the good news - this will fit 20 pieces of 300gsm watercolor paper in a sleeve. It won't fit 9x11 paper, but it fit my 7x10 sheets, and fit 2 20-sheet stacks of 7.5x5.3 watercolor paper, one of the other. It's very stiff, so it protects your paper well. You could put a 20 sheet pad or 20 sheet stack and a case with some pencils inside the clipboard, as well.I was concerned that the clip might leave indentations in the paper. I found it didn't for the periods I was drawing, but I still suspect it could leave indentations in thicker paper if the paper is left in for a longer period. The clip doesn't seem to have protective rubber, so if you want to be sure, you could put a small piece of paper under the clip but over your art paper.I do find the clip itself to be on the stiff side. It would be better for me if it took about 20% less pressure to open it, but that's pretty much my only complaint, and YMMV.Overall, I find this clipboard to live up to its claims. It's not for people who need to store paper over 8 1/2 x 11, but it works fine for anything 8 1/2 x 11 or smaller, and can fit over 20 sheets of printer paper and 20 sheets of thick, 300gsm watercolor paper in a sleeve. I think it's great for plein air drawing or painting while sitting on a bench, and very nice if you want to draw while sitting on the couch, so for me, it's a 5 star item. If you need it to hold larger paper or 40 or more sheets, you might want to look at other storage clipboards.

Functionally, this clipboard does everything it's supposed to do. Its top clamp firmly and reliably holds your paperwork or a legal pad to the surface. The top opens up easily to reveal good storage space for additional paperwork. I was able to fit a full legal pad into the space with no problem. The locking clip holds the storage area closed securely. This clipboard is quite useable for its intended purpose. The clipboard is made of thin, lightweight aluminum. This is an advantage if you're looking to save weight, but it works against the comfort of holding and using the item. The aluminum material is thin, as are its edges. Without any kind of rounding, these edges make holding the clipboard in your hand not quite sharp, but uncomfortable. The clip at the top has a fold-out lever for releasing your paperwork, and it too feels thin, and sharp edged. Same with the clip release that opens the top to reveal the storage area. All of this adds up to a clipboard that doesn't feel very robust or good in your hand. Yes, you can use it... but you're not going to enjoy the feel of it. If that doesn't matter to you, this clipboard is perfectly fine. If you want something more comfortable to hold, look elsewhere.
