My old carb float was the brass version, which developed a leak, filled with gas, and wouldn't actually float. As a result, the needle wouldn't seat properly so the gas would stay running and eventually leak out of the carb. This new plastic float replaced the original one perfectly and all is good now.

Replacing a brass float that was only a year old and had a pinhole in soldered seam - - hopefully the plastic float will be trouble-free.
