Ideal for diagnosing faulty fuel injectors, bearings, gears, suspensions, transmissions, differentials and CV joints, and under hoods. Working as a high powered wireless stethoscope for your car or truck, each of the 4 independent transmitters can be placed in a separate location around the vehicle using the built-in clips and magnets or the included nylon hook-and-loop straps. These then transmit to the receiver allowing you to listen to the vehicle during standard operation to hear noises that are difficult or just impossible to duplicate in a repair stall. Each transmitter is assigned its own channel on the receiver and can be selected or muted individually to make pinpointing the location and cause of a noise easy. With a 50-foot transmitter to receiver range it is useable on all makes and models of cars and light trucks, as well as a variety of larger vehicles. Kit includes 4 transmitters, 1 receiver unit, 1 set of mini earphones, 4 cable-leads/microphone clamps, 12 nylon straps, 12 hook-and-loop straps, 6 AA batteries, 16 AAA batteries, an organizer pouch, location identifier note pad, instruction manual, and a blow-molded storage case. *Since they operate on different frequencies, the 61082 series transmitters and receiver are not compatible with previous 60635 and 97202 versions.

Had a problem with one of my vehicles, took it to a garage, couldn't find the issue. Bought this, hooked it up to the fuel injectors and instantly diagnosed two bad injectors.

Works good, decent value for the money, however some parts feel cheap. good tool to use for the intermittent clunks/rattles, can save you time and headaches, however it can be a hassle and take some time to put all the batteries in and set it up when I need to use it. Each module takes 4 AAA batteries, and the handheld brick takes 6 AA batteries. Modules also seem to use batteries fairly quick, however this is by far more convenient than the Wired unit that I had before, they also have a Gen 2 of this wireless unit now, so check that before purchasing.

Totally love this product. Terrific way to track down noises the only occur while driving. Had a faulty transmitter and was able to get a replacement product amazingly fast and hassle-free. Going to buy 2 extra transmitters to have a total of six thst thus device will support. Would be nice if it used rechargeable lithium batteries but not that big of a deal to me.

First off, the packaging wasn't that great. Stuff scattered everywhere and poor quality glue all over the foam. But I was willing to overlook that. The reason for 3 stars is that the connectors that connect the clamps to the receivers were terrible. Really poor quality. They are so loose they slip off, which is a weak link in the entire system.I would expect much better for $250. If I had purchased one of the cheap Chinese units on Amazon for $70 I'd be OK with all of this and fix the connectors myself.

At some point in time, every vehicle I've owned has developed a chassis noise of some type.Sometimes it's a straightforward identification and repair but more often than not it is a time-consuming trial and error process. Many times, replacing components that were not the culprit. This kit makes it much easier to identify the location of noises under the car.Tried it out on my son's car when he was about to replace tie rods because he was convinced that was the source of his problem.Attached the sensors to the tie rods, control arms and the strut and went for a test drive. After a short learning curve, we were able to rule out the tie rod and identify a control arm issue. Upon closer inspection the forward control arm bushing was bad. This wasn't without a price though. When mounting one of the transmitters I didn't take into account the change in the position of the suspension when we dropped the car from the jack for the test drive.Ended up crushing transmitter during the test drive and now only have 3 functioning sensors.Irritating bt still well worth it in terms of time and cost of replacing good parts.

Just received the Steelman Wireless Chassis ear and after installing the provided batteries, I went to test each transmitter and microphone. All four transmitters powered up and all the On/Off switches worked well with a noticeable detent. All four clamp microphones worked, and all cables fit nicely, the station select buttons all worked nice. I like how the case came with the precut storage if you expand the set from 4 transmitters to 6, which I plan on doing in the future.I did have one concern and that was one of the microphones did have a noticeably lower audio output compared to the other three. After switching the mic to other transmitters, I determined it was the mic and not the transmitter. I immediately called the Steelman customer support and spoke with Chris, I explained my situation and he quickly took care of it by shipping out a replacement mic! As a professional, good customer support is very valuable and important in this industry.I will do business again with Steelman Products.

Is it built cheaply? Yes. But it does the job, and the quality is not that bad. Honestly even if it was built tough it probably wouldn’t survive a mishap if a receiver fell off the chassis while driving at highway speeds. It helped me diagnose a bad bearing very easily, as well as the bearings that are on their way out that are not yet audible to the naked ear. The headphones included suck, but throw on a pair of Bose over ear headphones and you’re good to go.
