The Bryce access panel is built like a tank- heavy gauge welded frame and door are smooth and sleek on the outside, but equipped with tabs for hidden fastening to framing inside. You will have to frame the opening to support this heavy hatch, but it is meant to be a permanent solution, unlike the cheap plastic snap in covers. I used this to cover a bare hole in the back of a closet which was cut by the previous owner to access plumbing. This hatch would be fine to use in any visible location- it looks that good, it blends in and can be painted or papered to match your decor.

Build QualityThe door is about what I expected for a steel door. The paint coverage is good, slightly thin at the corners of the door but overall good and better than expected at the frame seams. The door is straight and steady and opens easily . The door lock is a bit stiff (open with screwdriver) and secures well. There is a slight gap around the door (see pcitures 4,5.)UseThe panel is easy to install and fits well. I will note that it must fit between studs as the portion that "goes into the wall" extends beyond the thickness of drywall.Final thoughtsThis is a good quality solid access panel that I recommend.

The access panel is solidly built for residential or commercial use. The panel can either be screwed directly to studs or ceiling joists or can be installed within the field of the sheetrock with the tabs that are designed to be bent to secure to the sheetrock. The mechanism for opening the panel is a bit tight to turn but otherwise works well (simply use a flat head screwdriver to "unlock and lock" the panel).A few frustrations that almost had me rating it 4 stars.1) The dimensions are NOT 8" x 8" as shown in their product photos. In fact, they are more like 7 5/8" by 6 1/2" as far as the area you can access when the door panel is open. So, be careful if you need to be able to get your hands up in the panel to access wiring or plumbing as that's a small area. Or, just order a larger size.2) It looks like they spray painted the panel after it was assembled as you can see the areas by the hinge that are not painted (clearly the door was held open partially while they painted it. This is hidden inside the panel when it's closed, but just speaks to the quality of design and construction in which they cut corners.Overall, I'm giving it 5 stars but just beware of the actual dimensions you can access through.

Good strong panel with a nice color. Exactly what you want to be able to easily get access to pipes in a wall.

We needed to drywall in an area around our hot water heater, but needed to keep access to the pipes behind. This panel was a great option. It is a solid and well made panel that has a "locking" door within a framed metal plate. The "key" is to just use a slotted screw driver to open and close, it does not lock. It's is well painted with a glossy white that so far shows no signs of scratches or peeling. The opening gives enough access to about a 6x6 space. The frame itself is rather deep, we ended up putting some extra wood supports around it as our drywall was a bit thinner. I do wish I had gone with a larger panel, but this still works great for the reasons that we needed it.

Steel-strong. Thick gauge, heavy duty. I was no expecting this quality for a wall access to a plumbing valve. I looked a a few and decided on a metal closure. I was expecting a thin gauge and whimper lightweight metal panel and flange. That is not the case with thisBryce Hardware Steel 8x8 Access Panel Durable Welded Steel Ceiling Access Panel, Metal Access Door with Powder-Coated Finish - Metal Access Panel Ideal for Electrical, and Mechanical Access (8" x 8").My application is fr my 2022 5th wheel RV. I installed a ball valve in line to a cold water supply line that feeds into new rough-in shower balance presssure mixing shower valve and new shower trim. I liked the looks of the new shower trim so i needed to negate the cold water as my hot water temperature is set at the on demand hot water heater. So typically with the valve calls for hot water. I would just turn on the hot water valve. With the new mixing valve and the cold water mixes in. The operation is “different: and the results are not the same, and with that said.. we will leave it at that.So to eliminated the cold water supply i installed a ball valve to bypass the cold water supply, and only the hot water will supple the shower valve. But I wanted the ability to have the cold water in the event of just in case. The valve was the best solution. Now i need to access this valve from the opposite side of the shower wall. Now comes this Bryce Hardware Steel 8x8 Access Panel Durable Welded Steel Ceiling Access Panel, Metal Access Door. This panel door provides the access I need and the ability to conceal and maintain a finished a clean appearance. The panel is well made and metal joints welded. It has a heavy build and vey solid. The panel door has the ability to be secured with a “key”. The opening is 8”x8” and the surface flange to conceal any irregularity around the cut-out opening, thus completing the overall appeal that is clean and neat. The white coating finish is paintable to match any decor. The overall build is structurally sound, and without twisting or bending. Has weight adding durability and strength. Featuring prefilled holes to secure the access door to the surrounding substrate. All the considerations went into to such a quality product. I’m impressed with this access panel door. Very much well worth the value.
