Make sure you have a pick to pry off the old one. Went on faster than I thought. About a half hour.

This switch was failing on my 1997 F350 7.3L PS 4WD manual. I though I remembered buying one a while ago and checked my Amazon orders. I found that I did buy and install this switch in May of 2018, 4 1/2 years ago. I've noticed over the last year or so that I had to keep pushing the clutch farther in to trigger the "neutral/clutch in" signal to get the truck to start. I drive the truck very infrequently. I've removed this switch and jumpered between a couple wires in the harness connector/plug to get the truck to start like it should. I'll probably replace the switch (with another SMP or an OEM) after checking the price with Ford. UPDATE: part not available through Ford (obsolete). I disassembled and looked at this SMP switch in more detail. I found a tan water/grease schmooze on the contact rails inside the switch. I don't know how how it got there, maybe the grease was original. I cleaned out the tan grease/water and put it back in the truck. It seems to be working fine again.

Standard Motor Products (SMP) T-series NS127T switch/commutateur interruptor UPC 025623456232 made in Taiwan.Perfect replacement for my clutch interlock switch on my Ford. Props to a previous reviewer for his advice on installation (you simply disconnect the wiring harness and separate the switch body to remove, no need to remove the clutch rod). This is a very simple switch which can get dirty. Take your old one apart first and see if it just needs to be cleaned. If it's not broken, clean it up and buy some conductive grease like this: https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-85184-Bulb-Grease-Fluid_Ounces/dp/B01313JPVC/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=bulb+grease&qid=1597341219&sr=8-8, put it back together and it should work just fine.

Makes my 1994 ford ranger start much smoother, I just bought a master cylinder so I thought I might as well buy the neutral safety switch while I’m working on it and it makes the truck start much faster

I installed this in my 1997 Ford Ranger. The original switch had finally failed after 20 years. It's been in use now for three months and is working just fine. It was fairly easy to install. Even a person with limited mechanical experience should be able to put this in.

Repaired a 1995 Ford Ranger 2.3L with this that was having an intermittent start issue.Prior to replacing, the customer had the battery checked/charged, a new starter installed, and new battery cables. The no-start problem lessened, but still occurred regularly. This repair fixed the issue 100%.BEFORE REPLACEMENT :- Pressed in clutch, turn key, no crank, turn key , no crank, turn key, no crank- Pumped clutch, pressed clutch hard into floor, turn key, engine cranks/runsAFTER REPLACEMENT :- Pressed in clutch, turn key, engines cranks/runs -- EVERY TIME!** HELPFUL TIPS!! **1. This part & OEM part do not have the same disassembly methods.2. This part has a retention cover that you must carefully pry/lift off of 4 locking barbs (covers entire back of unit).3. OEM part has a thin plastic insert that slides up & out of a keyway on the rear.4. Do NOT remove the clutch pedal or piston rod to replace this part.5. Only unplug the wiring from the OEM, slide the insert on the rear, remove OEM -- then slide the new part into position & lock in place, install retention cover, & plug in wiring harness. With a small flathead screwdriver + a LED light, this repair will take you 5-10 minutes the first time & less than 2 minutes if you ever have to do it again.Good luck!

Switch did not work properly when installed with the key in the on position the truck would try to start on its own with the clutch not depressed when depressed it would stop cranking... But I took the springs out and stuck them in my factory switch and then that fixed my problem
