This weed puller reminds me of an old one my dad used to use in the backyard. It works reliably but you have to purposeful in your movements and be patient. Like all manual gardening tools, you need some zen to get through the yard work.

This might work for some people but it broke on my first try

I am enjoying this weed puller a lot, actually. You have to learn what works for you as far as usage and what types of weeds it excels at.I'm not a great (or even decent) gardener and tend to let a lot of things go. This makes it much less of an "event", I don't get as dirty, and it's kind of fun in an odd way. I actually go out and pull weeds for 10-15 minutes! No dirt in my nails either.

I recently purchased the Stand Up Weed Puller with the 3-claw head to combat the relentless weeds in my yard, and it's been a game-changer for my back! This tool significantly reduces the strain of weeding, making the chore much more manageable.Assembly was quick and easy, which is always a plus. The first thing I noticed was the tool's robust construction. The durable steel feels solid and built to last, giving me confidence that it can handle tough weeding jobs. The 45.6" long handle is a major benefit, eliminating the constant bending and kneeling that makes weeding so painful. This alone makes it worth considering for anyone with back problems. This weed puller truly shines when dealing with weeds that have thick taproots, like dandelions. The claws firmly grip the root, allowing for clean and complete removal. It also performs well on larger weeds with fibrous root systems, such as crabgrass. It efficiently pulls these out, making quick work of even established weeds. However, like other reviewers have noted, this tool isn't ideal for thinner, more delicate weeds. The claws struggle to get a good grip on thin stems, making it ineffective for removing these types of weeds. This is a noticeable limitation, as many common weeds have slender stems. While I was able to figure out how to use the tool by watching a few online videos, it would have been much more convenient to have clear instructions included in the packaging. This would have saved me some time and effort. Here's a summary of my experience:Pros: Easy to assemble. Sturdy and durable steel construction. Eliminates bending and kneeling, making weeding much easier on the back. Highly effective on weeds with thick taproots (like dandelions) and larger fibrous root systems (like crabgrass).Cons: Ineffective on thinner weeds. No instructions included in the packaging.Overall, the Stand Up Weed Puller is a great tool for tackling tough, deep-rooted weeds without straining your back. If you primarily struggle with dandelions, crabgrass, or similar weeds, this tool is a worthwhile investment. However, if your yard is primarily populated with thinner weeds, this might not be the best choice. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars due to the limitation with thin weeds and the missing instructions.

Well made with the look and feel of a heavy duty tool. The idea is great but it is very limited in the kinds of weeds it succeeds at pulling. I got it to save my back when pulling weeds in our grass. It is designed to pull a weed with a particular type of root system, which turns out to be about 1 in 4 of the weeds in my yard. Turns out it is just not practical. It should have been easy to use but it would pull a piece of the weed out but not the whole thing. I still had to pull the rest of the weed. I was excited about it but it was disappointing unfortunately.

For the price, I was expecting the usual hollow thin flimsy tubing for the handle, and prongs that had trouble pulling up a dandelion weed.I was wrong on both countsThe hollow handle tubing is made of thick, sturdy metal. It's fine threaded, so it will take a few minutes to screw the handle parts together - but no biggieThe handle and prongs make the whole tool long enough to use without bending, and for those with bad backs - that's a good thing. Now - using the tool is simple if you stop thinking so hard about it. Jam the prongs all the way into the ground on one side of the weed. As you step on the lever (that closes the jaws) loosen your grip on the handle because stepping on the lever tips the handle that closes the jaws AND tips the tool to the same side to pull the weed. #1Jam the tool in the ground. #2 step on the lever while letting loose of the handle. Bam - weed pulled.BUTBe reasonable - there is NO hand tool that's going to pull a 5 ft tall tap rooted weed EASILY.

This item exceeds my expectations, by far! I thought this would be a gimmicky tool that didn’t work well. Boy was I wrong. I have a bad back so I don’t like weeding when I have to bend over and pull weeds by hand. With this stand up weed puller, I had to do very little bending at all. To be clear, it definitely works best on weeds with a single long tap root, but it also works on weeds that are more grassy with a bunch of small roots. How well the tool works is a bit technique-dependent. For best results you have to get the teeth around the middle of the weed where the root is located. If you do that, this works great. If you don’t get right over the root, it will still work, just not quite as well. The tool is very well built. The metal from which the puller is made is strong and the connections between sections of the pole are very good. The sections have a very fine thread so it takes a little to get them screwed together but they seem to hold pretty well. The jaws appear to be made from cast aluminum so they shouldn’t rust. The jaws and foot step both seem to be well made so I believe this will stand up to heavy use. Overall, this is a well-built tool that works as advertised. It will help me improve the appearance of my yard without jeopardizing the health of my back. I recommend this product.
