Solid, well-made spare tire carrier. The spare plate is made of 1/4-inch steel, and the mount is made of reinforced 1/8-inch channel steel. I chose this mount so I can move the spare tire to different locations on the trailer depending on what type of load I am carrying. The carrier fits easily into any of the pole pockets on my trailer, giving me the ability to mount my spare. The adjustable bolt pattern mount plate makes this carrier useable for several different tire bolt patterns. I used it on an 8-lug pattern. Very easy to adjust and mount the spare. The bottom plate secures the mount in the pocket so it can't fall out or be easily removed. Recommend

Ordered this TOOLHOPER Stake Pocket Spare Tire Mount for my 20' equipment trailer. Needed a quick waÿ to mount a spare tire for my trailer for a last minute trip. Most trailer pockets are 2"x4" and I really didn't pay attention to description as I was more focused on bolt patern needed for spare tire. Once received it was very loose in my stake pockets. Tried to mount as described but as seen in pictures lower mounting clamp bar pulled up into stake pocket. May have been sufficient but did not want to risk chance of mount and spare tire vibrating loose. As I couldn't delay trip I turned lower mounting plate 90 degrees and locked it down tight. Since there was room in the pocket I also added a strap through pocket and spare tire spokes for extra security. For future use I will fabricate a larger lower plate to insure a secure mounting position. This will eliminate the need for a strap and give greater piece of mind. If you have a smaller pocket it will work as described but most trailers have 2x4" pockets.Other than my use case issues the carrier is well built out of solid materials and should last a long time. Welds are good and material used appears to be sufficient for its 150# rating.Good value for 40.00. Keeper!

I bought this for an 8 spare for an old Ford F350. To put a Class IV hitch on it we had to remove the spare tire from under the bed. This meant we had a spare tire rolling around.I ordered this Toolhopper Stake Pocket spare tire mount in the hopes it would work.Since this is designed for the stake sockets in a trailer, it was slightly too large. We sistered up a piece of thick wall square tubing that fit the truck sockets to the mount on this carrier. It turned out to be good thing because the tire cleared the fender. We used trailer spring clamps to put this together, but will weld it when time allows. We used a small racket strap to secure the assembly from the loop on the mount to a loop on the bed. The design allows us to put the spare tire in a pocket that keeps it out of the way and even turn it with the tire to the inside, when we are not carrying a load. This mount is made with serious metal. It was built to do a heavy job. I have ordered 8 lug tire carriers before and I was not comfortable with putting such a heavy wheel on one. They would have been fine for a 4 lug boat trailer wheel but not an 8 lug as advertised. They all went back to the sellers. If you need a mount that you can trust, especially with big 8-lug wheels, this is the one.I gave this 5 stars because it is built to last and it competitively priced with much weaker mounts.

Guess I read the dimensions wrong, but this does not fit a normal size 2 x 4 stake pocket. Even with the base plate o, it slips right through. Stake pocket in pics shown for reference of size. You can make it work, but should not have to. Other than that, the gauge of metal is thick and welds are pretty good. So its a pretty stout piece and I like the concept.

This stake pocket spare tire mount has been a game-changer for our trailers. With several trailers using the same size tire, this mount lets us quickly grab a spare and drop it into a stake pocket for peace of mind on the road. It’s simple to install and secure, making it an excellent addition for anyone needing a quick and flexible way to carry a spare. The 150-pound capacity ensures it can handle most trailer tires, and the mount feels sturdy and dependable. It’s one of those tools you didn’t know you needed until you used it.
