Wedge washers have a higher clamp load than serrated lock washers and their locking function is not affected by lubrication. Teeth on one half of the washer engage with wedges on the other when tightened, utilizing tension instead of friction to secure bolted joints.

I bought these for a specific problem on a truck. The rear shocks at the axle mount repeatedly loosen up. I had tried a few different things, even lock washers with no success. As this was a 3 pack it is a test on one shock only right now.First I tested a single washer pair on one shock mount. I torqued to the recommended 80ftlbs with a beam deflection torque wrench. I then removed it with the same torque wrench. The washer worked. Backing off the nut just a fraction required a lot more torque. It was right about 110ftlbs when the washer jumped and the fastener loosened up.I reinstalled with one washer for the bolt and one for the nut. The other side of the truck was just retightened with factory hardware. I suspect I will be buying another set for the other shock soon after this has proven it's self.I would recommend, but ensure you select the right ones. A coarse thread pitch may not work very well vs. a fine pitch!

Maybe I'm in a bit over my head with these two-piece locking wave washers, but they do seem to perform as intended. I've never used this type of locking washer before, so run a few tests. Put one under a nut on a 3/8" bolt and torqued to 50 ft lbs. It took a bit over 35 ft lbs to break loose. Repeating the process a couple more times, it gradually took a couple ft lbs less to break free. Note in the picture, you can see how well the serrations printed on the bolt and nut. Next, I compared to a flat washer and then a split ring washer. The flat washer broke free at ~ 10 ft lbs, and the split washer ~20 ft lbs. So, my conclusion is that this a superior type of lock washer. There are only two things about these that I am unsure of: 1. How durable is the finish?, and 2. Will the pairs that are not glued up in alignment work? Note, after all the torqueing and un-torqueing, the test item never seperated.

I'm afraid this might be one I'm not as qualified to give a reliable review on as I'd like. I don't have any way to verify the material composition, or even the Rockwell hardness, nor do I currently have any official Nord-Lock branded wedge type locking washers for comparison. Further, I also don't have any sufficiently vibratory machinery that I could test its supposed anti-loosening abilities. With all that in mind, first impressions, and from what I can see comparing these TIEIG washers to pictures of official Nord-Lock washers, is that these appear to be very close, if not identical in design, from a reasonably established manufacturer in Turkey, as opposed to Nord-Locks being sourced from Germany. However, these TIEIG washers feature no traceability information, such as the laser etched serials on each and every Nord-Lock washer, nor any other identifiable markings. They do at least come pre-glued for ease of storage and installation. So my primary worries with these would be that, without traceability, the manufacturer obviously isn't as concerned about quality control and maintaining a high standard as a matter of reputation. In addition, likely another cost-cutting measure could be inferior heat treatment, or no heat treatment at all.Fortunately, none of the washers I received appear to have any notable defects, and I'm sure they'll likely suffice in non-critical applications on personal (ground) vehicles, farm or construction equipment, and machinery. For extra 'insurance', you might consider pairing with your favorite anaerobic thread locking compound. Beyond that, at least based on my current experience and research, I would opt for name-brand with traceability for commercial applications. On top of that, this pack of 10 M8-sized washers had an MSRP of $30, thus making these more expensive than the name-brand. So for that, I don't think I can give these more than a three-star review at best, assuming they do as they're advertised. In theory, I think the wedge-lock design is genius and has great potential, but I've personally yet to see them used in the wild. I'll be excited to give these a go in my own projects, but my recommendation would be to opt for Nord-Lock, unless you can get these TIEIG washers for at least half-or-less of their price, and aren't concerned about component traceability and quality guarantees. Not to mention whether to support an Allied country, if geopolitics concern you.

I like lubrication. Lubrication helps tighten up nuts and bolts and protects from corrosion. These Tieig Wedge Locking washers hold tight with or without lubrication applied. With lubrication, I can drive the nuts faster and not worry about using other methods of locking the nuts. I can also benefit from the water displacement lubrication provides. They also negate the need to go through each nut after assembly to tighten down the ones that became loose. Everything stays tight.I also found I can torque the nuts, and they will retain their setting.Really clever design - serrated on the outside, and they will show dimples on the nuts, and internally they have wedges that wedge down to counter rotation from vibrations. I tried to take a photo one opened up, but my camera doesn't do close-up shots well. The halves are glued together with rubber cement, just to hold them during assembly. I split apart with my fingernail. They stick right back together unharmed and ready for use.I am convinced - These are great!

These washer are used a lot on the Forklift and various heavy equipment, the clamp/lock force is like no others I've came arcoss in my years as a Forklift Repair Technician. The washer provide a type of tamper-proof, as once they lock together they ARE NOT meant to be remove, once they are locked together and in place it is not advisable to remove the washer set, as they washer will show damage to the locking teeth as well as to the mated surface and the hardware used. Depending on the torque and or application used you might be able to reuse them.
