Staedtler makes the highest quality rulers. I enjoy the ease of readability and accuracy. It doesn’t feel like cheap plastic and is sturdy.

I've been using these for Staedtler scales for 30 years and have never come across on that didn't have a colored strip to distinguish the sides. Very inconvenient, why would they change that??

I bought ten of these for a middle school math club. The quality is good for the price. As opposed to something I read in one of the answered questions, the scales are indeed engraved, or rather cast into the plastic, so they should wear very well. One of the darling students went after one with a sharp metal straightedge and ruined the edge of one of the scales. That's just plain vandalism, but indicates that the plastic is not super hard. Very good for showing the concept and advantages of scales made in engineering units rather than architects'.
