I have done many shows with these lights. They are in a case for transport but have been under normal abuse. My drummer knocked down one of the stands it was mounted to and it hit the stage floor. Still works great

This unit is bright for sure. Cool different colored lights that flash like crazy when the music is loud enough. When there is no sound the lights just seem to go one at a time and the light towers keep oscillating. When the music kicks in, and it's loud enough, the light detecs it and does its thing. There is a port for an DMX controler, though I don't have one. You can also simply input what setting you would like with a button input on the side. There is a guide in the instructions that come with the light. Though, I suspect it would be easier with an DMX controler as that appears to give much more control. Either way, I love this light. Has worked great for a few parties already. Is it good for a Floyd show at Madison Square Garden? No. Is it awesome for a karaoke night, bar band, small show, etc.? Absolutely. For the price, I love it. It feels durable enough to last a long time, if treated well. I recommend it!

I have been building up lights for parties and these are really nice. First, you can control them manually or by a DMX controller. Next is the ability to program them or select defined scenes. Using defined scenes means you dont need a DMX controller to make them work... just to control them onthe fly, They use a regular PC cord. They can be set on the floor or hung on a rig.I havent been able to get it to do everything in the video but I suspect I will figure it out after a bit.

Let me just say, I LOVE my Spider Lights! I have had several in the past, and this one is just as awesome as the others.I got this to pair with another that I have. The DMX control settings are the same, programming-wise, but my favorite feature is using these in Master/Slave config. I connect with a mic cable to my existing Spider light, and let them work their magic together. It's very bright...much more so than a lot of LED fixtures in this price range. A lot of value there, and a great, inexpensive way to add moving lights to your show. I actually have my two mounted to my drum rack, for a self-contained light show when I play, that I can bring anywhere.

First off, this is my second one of these. The first arrived damaged, and was not working properly right out of the box. After checking out the first one briefly, I was not optimistic about the replacement being much better. It IS lightweight, but I think that's because it's pretty flimsy. It feels like it would be very easy to damage this thing, especially the moving heads. I would be very, very careful moving this thing around. If it were going to be in a semi-permanent position and out of reach, it would be OK. In a portable situation, I'll be amazed if it lasts through a half dozen uses.It is cheaper than a professional light, but too expensive for a toy. It might be fun for a kids party or something, but again, you'd want it out of reach. As for the actual light show, it's fine. It doesn't move super fast, but the lights are reasonably bright. The built-in programs don't offer a whole lot of variety: basically, you get a couple patterns of the lights going on and off, and the two heads either move together or opposite each other. If you were controlling it with DMX, you could probably do more. Either DMX or auto, you're on your own with figuring it out: the instructions are pretty weak.Long story short, it does what it says, and it's reasonably bright (for a non-professional light). It does not seem to be very well made. If you're looking for a light for a kids party, or you're a very casual DJ, this might be cool. But, I think you could save a few bucks and find more of a toy OR spend a few more bucks and get something more robust. This is kinda in-between, and not in a great way.
