This product is a substandard piece of garbage. Tolerances were so out of whack the insertion barrel would not slide on the rod. Unusable. Don't waste your time or money on this sweatshop sourced POS. I would give it negative stars if I had the option. To top it all off, the useless tool was not delivered on time even though I paid for expedited shipping. I guess Bezos can use the $8.99 fraudulent shipping charge to purchase another 0.5 liters of yacht fuel...

I bought this tool to install circlips on a Porsche 911 3.0L engine. Tool would not fit as the edge of the barrel piece hit the outside edge of the piston (JE pistons). I thought a simple solution was to grind a bit off the rather thick outside portion of the barrel piece (see first pic). Worked just fine but the very first circlip I installed ballooned out the end of the barrel piece, the portion that should be inserted into the piston gudgeon pin hole. I tried to straighten it out but if you look closely (see second pic) it is clearly no longer round. Tool proved useless for me. Now, I do realize that my gudgeon pins are 22mm and this tool says 20mm so maybe that is the reason it deformed. Still, before I even put a circlip in the tool the beveled edge of the barrel piece barely pierced the piston gudgeon pin hole, making me think, while a tight fit, it should do the job.Lesson learned, get the right sized tool for the job or get a tool specific to the job being performed.

Bought this tool to install the circlips on my RZR pistons. I had to have it modified as the part that inserts into the wrist pin hole was not long enough. The modification was to have the knurled portion turned back approximately 1/2", maintaining the .80" diameter of the portion that inserts into the wrist pin hole. Once the modification was made the tool worked perfectly. FYI, the center hole for the circlip does not need to be tapered. The circlip can be inserted in the tool at the end where it will ultimately be coming out. This works much better than placing it in the back end of the tool. I'm very glad this tool was available, as I found it impossible to install the circlips otherwise.

Much easier to install circlips with this tool. Fewer lost/dropped/damaged circlips. Not as good as the CirClipper brand, but much better than nothing.
