I was replacing u-joints on my crusty old truck. The undercarriage is solid but scaly, and sometimes stuff doesn't come apart as easily as it should. That's when I have to "persuade" things to move. The u-joints in my truck were no exception. Factory u-joints on an almost 20 year old truck can be a headache so I bought this driver in order to give myself a relatively easy option before breaking out the ball joint press.I took the driveshaft out, supported the yoke on 2 blocks of wood, and gave it a couple of hits with the air chisel and this driver. Then I flipped it over and did it again. This got the u-joint to shift just a bit so I could get the retaining clips out. Once the clips were out I REALLY went to town on the driveshaft. After about 10 seconds the u-joint cap popped out. Flip over, repeat and the other cap popped out. Repeat once again on the other end of the driveshaft and both u-joints were laying on the ground. I think it took less than 20 minutes working at a leisurely pace, not including the time spend pulling the driveshaft out of the truck. To top it off, I was using a really inexpensive Harbor Freight air chisel and a pancake compressor (my "real" compressor was broken and I hadn't yet replaced it).Now that I only work on my own cars (plus a couple of favors here and there) I may go years before I use this tool again. However if I do, I know it will work exactly as intended.

I bought this in anticipation of replacing the U joints on my truck. This tool is awesome in that it gives me the opportunity to purchase an air hammer. Who doesn’t like that.

Faster, and easier. Saves your arm from swinging a hammer and accidentally hitting an ear. Mounts directly to your air hammer and drives out even the large UJoints. I snapped off a 1/4 inch of the cup spacer on the tool and still works great. I do allot of U Joints and this definitely saves time.

The items shown in the picture match however there's no mention of Lisle on the case label, instructions or tool. It worked though. Amazon, get your sellers to correctly identify the brand of this tool

I was skeptical at first, no real videos demonstrating use linked to site and the mixed reviews on here. Let me clarify one time, it ABSOLUTELY WORKS. Drove out 12 year old u joints in a rusty driveshaft with little to no issues. The trick is to hold the opposing trunion in a solid fixture like a vise, apply a bit of penetrating oil and go to town with a QUALITY air hammer. Your $20 Harbour freight one isn’t going to cut it. I use a long barrel Matco and it worked beautifully. Honestly the hardest part of the job was getting the retention clips out and unfortunately several of them broke which needed their own special method to remove them. Anyway u joints have always been a job I loathed, because I’d use a combination of a vice, ball joint press, or a hammer bit in my air hammer and had mixed results in one or another method and have actually had a couple caps explode sending schapnel into my arm. Definitely recommend this to anyone who replaces u joint on a regular basis to not only sped the process up but also makes it a whole lot safer to remove them.

After 40, time consuming Years of beating out U-joints, Along Comes This miracle! The first time using it I was able to get both Yokes and both joints out of the drive shaft in less than 5 minutes. Then I used the tool to install the U joints and yokes in about the same amount of time.

Love this tool, makes extracting most u-joint cups a breeze. You'll want a good, strong long-barrel air hammer to pair it with though. Works great with my Snap-on air hammer, even with very heavily rusted joints. No danger of bending/denting the driveshaft with an errant hammer blow or bending the yoke with a press. Only u-joints I've found so far that it can't help with are Ford F350 front axle joints - the distance from the edge of the yoke to the joint cup is too far, and tapered as well. I don't use this tool to install new joints, though I suppose you could; I just prefer to push the cups in slowly with a vise etc. to avoid the risk of dropping a needle roller.

I was ready to leave a 1 or 2 star review when my air chisel started acting up, so I went to replace it.Once I got the new air chisel, this tool worked flawlessly. Before I got the new air chisel and was using my old one (Harbor Freight), it took forever to see any results and sometimes wouldn't even work.Once I got the new air chisel (Husky), it took me literally 1 minute to remove a u joint and this tool worked great. My point is, make sure you have a good air chisel before trying this, because as was in my case, the tool was fine but my air chisel was the problem.
