Smith Creek Spent Line Wrangler

Smith Creek Spent Line Wrangler helps to keep our waters clean!

After years of seeing waste fishing line discarded on river banks, Smith Creek decided to do something about it. Spent Line Wrangler helps to keep waste fishing line out of the environment and in your pocket where it belongs.

It's a simple, elegant method to quickly coil up and store excess tippet line for later disposal.

Simply place the Spent Line Wrangler along your index finger, coil the waste line around the aluminum plate, and tug it into the slot where the high-density EVA foam keeps it firmly in place.

Smit Creek Spent Line Wrangler

As beautiful as it is practical!

Like all Smith Creek products, the Spent Line Wrangler is made of high-quality materials and fine finishing processes. Constructed from marine-grade aluminum, which is smoothed, texturized, and anodized in two attractive colors (Burnt Orange and Olive Green), it's not only practical but looks great.

  • Marine grade aluminum
  • Anodized in two color choices
  • Laser etched
  • UV resistant, high-density foam
  • Patented Design (US and NZ)

At Smith Creek we believe in leaving nothing behind but footprints

Smith Creek Spent Line Wrangler

It only takes a few turns and a tug to keep that waste line out of the water

I really want to keep plastics and trash out of the river side. And spent tippet/ mono is hard to "wrangle." This is the best item to do this easily. I wholly recommend it. I even had the foam in the stirrup go away somehow, and Robert in Customer service was incredibly proactive in sending a replacement and a short video he fashioned to insert and repair the tool.I think it shows the pride and integrity Smith Creek puts into their products. Yes, a bit pricey, but you DO get what you pay for.

Unit worked great for keeping tippet scraps. However after a few hours of fishing I went to put some tippet clippings on my keeper to only have the provided string/lanyard being the only thing hanging off my pack. Keeper must’ve gotten snagged on some brush and bent out of the provided key ring. I guess this could’ve been avoided if secured the keeper differently. Bummed that I lost it. Would’ve given it a better review if I could given it a few more outings.Update: seller reached out and made it right. Will purchase again due to the great customer service. 1 star upgraded to 5 star

This line manager is small and simple. I can quickly take short or long pieces of line and make them stay put until I get off of the water and can properly dispose of them. Great product.

I have to admit, that over the years, I have purchased plenty of fishing "accessories" that fell well short of my expectations. This Spent Line Wrangler is NOT one of those! This Wrangler has eliminated ALL of the hassle managing the spent fluorocarbon from a day of tight line nymphing or whatever the fishing approach may be. It is easy to use and works as advertised. One critique seen in a few reviews is the price. That may not be totally unfair given the actual material cost. From my perspective, paying this price for a brilliant design, that is a real solution to the frustration of dealing with used line, is worth it.

This device for keeping waste fishing line is very easy to use but pretty expensive. I haven't found a better, easier to use product to keep waste fishing leader and tippett ends so this is my second one. My first lasted about 3 years before the foam that holds the waste mono/flouro lost enough integrity so it no longer held the less than 3x size tippett.

This thing is awesome. I had been using one of the FishPond Micro Trash Cans to hold my tippet. It worked ok but it was very difficult to get the hair like tippet to come off your fingers and stay in the container. Then when you had a very short piece of tippet to dispose of the FishPond was nearly impossible to get the piece into. My wife was bitching about the TrashPond Micro Trash Can and I got this to make her happy (especially because she loves to fly fish and she can row a drift boat - she is the best). The Trash Fish solved the disposal dilemma with an elegant solution and made my wife happy. Short pieces of tippet or longer pieces are easy to contain on this thing. One word of caution - if you try to put a entire leader (nearly full length) it will not work too well - a full tippet coiled up will be to bulky for the Trash Fish. So just roll it around your fingers, wrap the end around that and tie it up like you would a long rope and then slide a single loop of that tippet mess onto the Trash Fish. That works fine and will hold it until you can dispose of it.Great quality product. It is the best solution I have found for handling that waste tippet.
