I had this same latch on my swing out tire carrier for about 15 years before it started opening on its own because of worn out pins. This caused the over-center function to fail. I contacted the manufacturer and they don’t sell refurbish kits and won’t rebuild it for you. When I looked for a replacement I was absolutely shocked by the prices. They must be making 80-90% margin on these. I decided I’d rather bite the bullet and purchase an exact replacement rather than redesign my bumper for a more affordable and likely more reliable latch. I just hope I have a new vehicle before this one fails.The pins don’t stay put either, they’re not captured when the latch is open so they can easily slide out enough to cause the latch to not close. For $160 this thing should be absolutely flawless and last 100 years.

Very happy to find this on Amazon. Perfect replacement latch for the tire carrier on my Jeep Wrangler. Very well made and looks great.
